Infotainment in Mazda with sharp large screen and control knob is superb and big reason I own Mazda . CX-5 should adopt newer wider and more flat knob from Mazda 3 and rest of modern Mazda cars...

I changed my CarPlay wallpaper today, from that too colourful default one to a nice two tone silver wallpaper to match the silver car colour.

The infotainment works great and Apple map works fine I like the fact that street and directions clearly show on head up display but the voice direction is lagging when pairing through iPhone to the wireless CarPlay Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Are there buttons on the steering wheel of that allow me to change from one saved radio station to the next to the next and so on? I like to channel surf.

Jonathan, i hope you can answer something that has been bothering me since I have had my CX5 2023 (LAST 3 MONTHS) 1. When Android auto is connected, bluetooth connection gets disconnected (if connected) and AA gets connected. However, next time when I start the car, the Bluetooth does not connected by itself to play music. It gets connected to answer calls but I need to go into the setting each time to allow the Bluetooth to play music as well. Is there a way to allow the BT to connect for both calls and music after AA was connected the last time? 2. The biggest issue I have is that if AA is connected but the Android Auto screen is not activate on the display and a call comes, the call cannot be answered from either the answer button or the rotary dial. I need to first go into the AA screen for me to be able to answer a call. I also connected apple car play and if a call comes when the Carplay screen is not on, it automatically brings Apple carplay screen up to be able to answer the call but the same does not happen for Android Auto. I hope you can help provide some clarity. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried any is the aftermarket wireless adapters?

So it’s absolutely impossible to connect to car play on Bluetooth without having to plug it in Everytime ? For ex I can’t just use google maps app on phone without having to plug-in ??

How do you turn the radio off without shutting off the Mazda Connect screen? When the volume control knob is push down for a couple of seconds the audio turns off along with the Connect screen. Why? Also, when this is done and the car is turned off and then restarted, the audio comes on AGAIN. Why? The "audio off" on the Source menu does nothing to correct this. Is this an annoying glitch, or am I doing something wrong? I have a new 2024 CX-5 Turbo Signature, top of the line. Thank you

I’ve had my new Mazda3 a week and I really like it a lot so far. But one thing that drives me nuts is - I listen to a lot of my music off the USB stick, organized in folders. So if I’m in a specific artist folder and click a song, the screen changes to that song but there is no back button to go one page back - into that same folder. If I want to change a song I either have to use the mini wheel and go one by one to the next song without seeing what’s next or back all the way out of the entire system and start over and it’s frustrating. It shouldn’t be be hard to work on the software to use the back button to go just one “page” back in the folders for the USB.

I just purchased a 2023 CX9 touring model. By far this is most clunky unintuitive system I have ever used. Even the system in the lowest tier chevy equinox I drive (work issued vehicle) has XM built in, accepts 3.0 USB sticks (not limited to 2.0 16gd sticks) and presents on-screen usb info in an easy way to find music. Mazda succeeded in finding the worst way to be cheap!!

Why can’t you use apple car play with bt? And need a cable

How do you type an address on Maps through the Apple CarPlay? Since it's not a touchscreen I assume we have to type it through the phone, since I can't see a way of typing it with the rotary wheel. Is that the case?
  • Hi Jonathan, nice vid! Just one question though..have you tried using the main display of the 2023 CX-5 by gestures when you are in the Apple carplay? It becomes a touchscreen when Apple carplay is on, just like the screen of the bigger Cx-60 :) maybe you can do an update on that as well. Cheers!
