The Antonov An-225 Mriya was a strategic airlift cargo aircraft designed and produced by the Antonov Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. It was initially developed during the 1980s as an enlarged derivative of the Antonov An-124 airlifted to transport Buran-class orbiters.

The World need to get this bird in the air again!
  • I remembered this back in 2014. They yelled "biggest airplane" and people went crazy because that antonov were about to land in our international airport. And yes! Even from distance, it was extremely loud.
  • @Hi---There

I was at Boeing Field in Seattle when an AN-124 was parked in transient parking there. A 737 business jet came in, and they parked it under the wing of the AN-124. That's a big ship. The -225 must have been truly something to see in person.
  • I really hope to see they will revive antonov.. Legendary plane indeed
  • This plane was a true masterpiece of human achievement. Words are difficult to explain the magnificence of this creation by human beings
  • I love this plane so much I even ordered a 1:500 scale model by Herpa collection and still enjoy looking at it.

I remember a transportation that i´ve organized for Airbus parts in Germany / Hamburg with the AN-225, what a giant aircraft. But the price for the transport was also very high.

It's a real life star destroyer Rest in Peace
  • Had the pleasure of seeing this giant at GSP International in Greer South Carolina in November 2007. She was picking up diesel turbine engines from the nearby General Electric plant in Greenville.. What an awesome sight to see. I believe she'll be rebuilt..

225 Mriya is such a great aeroplane ✈ being made for serving people and I felt bad to see it was destroyed in the war.
  • "Well, it's quite simple really. You see, the Antonov An-225 works by magically defying gravity and hauling massive amounts of cargo across the skies like it's no big deal. It's like the Superman of airplanes, but with a much larger cape."
  • @evolver54
It’s hard to notice how big it really is until you see a comparison to the planes you see everyday
