The Antonov An-225 Mriya was a strategic airlift cargo aircraft designed and produced by the Antonov Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. It was initially developed during the 1980s as an enlarged derivative of the Antonov An-124 airlifted to transport Buran-class orbiters.

AN 225 mriya ''It wasn't just an airplane, it was a symbol of the incredible things humanity can do when needed. It was a miracle.'' 1988-2022
  • I remembered this back in 2014. They yelled "biggest airplane" and people went crazy because that antonov were about to land in our international airport. And yes! Even from distance, it was extremely loud.

I was at Boeing Field in Seattle when an AN-124 was parked in transient parking there. A 737 business jet came in, and they parked it under the wing of the AN-124. That's a big ship. The -225 must have been truly something to see in person.

I remember a transportation that i´ve organized for Airbus parts in Germany / Hamburg with the AN-225, what a giant aircraft. But the price for the transport was also very high.

Had the pleasure of seeing this giant at GSP International in Greer South Carolina in November 2007. She was picking up diesel turbine engines from the nearby General Electric plant in Greenville.. What an awesome sight to see. I believe she'll be rebuilt..

It’s hard to notice how big it really is until you see a comparison to the planes you see everyday

225 Mriya is such a great aeroplane ✈ being made for serving people and I felt bad to see it was destroyed in the war.
