The fact that his parents kept going back for 14 years and knew all the employees there means that the guy who did it probably interacted with them multiple times and that's just sad...
-
The fact that the parents kept searching for 14 years and still didnât get any justice is heartbreaking

I grew up in Saskatoon Sk and we knew the MacPherson family. My oldest brother and Duncan were the same age and they played ball together in the 'off season'. As the little sister, I had a 'crush' on Duncan because he was always very kind to me. It was so very, very tragic and scary when Duncan went missing. Thank God Bob and Lynda finally got answers, as horrific as they are, and could bring him home and lay him to rest. It's hard to believe that we are all in our 50's now. My most vivid memories of Duncan are from a time when I went to all my brother's ball games because I was too young to stay at home alone. A time when we lived on orange soda, hotdogs and licorice from the concession stand.

The fact there is a statute of limitations in this instance is so incredibly wrong. Duncan and his family deserve justice!
-
Itâs amazing how Mr. Ballen can stand out in freezing temperatures just to tell us a story. The like button could never
-
As a Canadian, this story was on the news after they found his mummified body, and again when it was determined that he was pushed into the crevasse. His parents were heart broken. Thank you for telling this story the way you do. You are an amazing storyteller
-
Today is the 34th anniversary of Duncanâs death. My prayers go to him and his family, his mother Linda particularly. Rest in peace Duncan.
-
There are two aspects to Duncanâs story- I) what happened on 9 August 1989; and ii) what happened when Duncanâs body was found on 18 July 2003. MrBallen told the story of what happened on 9 August 1989, but did not address the investigation of death by police, coroner, and state attorney. One might be able to halfway rationalize the operatorâs motivation in concealing the body in a crevasse - they at least had some excuse - fear of prosecution and/or losing their job. There is NO rationalization of investigating officials who took active measures to prevent the truth from emerging. Their job was to investigate cause and manner of death, NOT conceal it.
-
The ending to this story is so frustrating. The fact that he might have still been alive and just left to die up there, and that someone could do that to him without any conpassion is just horrible.
-
As you were telling the story, I'd guessed he'd fallen into a crevasse and the glacier had finally spit him out 14 years later. The SnoCat was a horrifying twist I was not expecting.
-
This is horrifyingâŠ. Poor Duncan. I wonder what his last thoughts were. I hope he was at the very least unconscious after being hit and stayed that way the whole time. Canât imagine his families pain. đ

I love how Mr. Ballen pauses to explain terms in simple words during a story without breaking the flow of a story. âThey grabbed onto the tow-rope, which is a way to get to the top of the slope. Thereâs a cable that rotates from the top to the bottom of the mountain, and there are all these bars attached to the cable, and skiers and snowboarders grab the bar while standing on their snowboard or their skis and they literally get pulled up the mountain.â Simple, concise, effective. And extremely helpful for a diverse audience who may never have encountered such things like Snow or Mountains (hello from Florida!)

What a horrible tragedy. When MrBallen was talking about Duncan going back out in the fog, I was thinking oh man, he fell into a crevasse. But then to hear what really happened made me heart drop. And to hear that there hasn't been any justice is even more heart dropping. Thank you for telling Duncan's story, MrBallen!

What a horrifying way to go, ultimately the selfish and cold acts of people. Those poor parents looking for 14 years, I hope they find peace.
-
What I learned from Mr Ballenâs show: donât ski or snowboard on a glacier, donât hike in any mountains without a locked and loaded large caliber weapon, donât buy a house without checking basement, attack, perimeter, and with neighbors about local legends. Donât move to unpopulated areas even if there is a fence around the property, and always leave a full itinerary when traveling alone.

This is amazing. Definitely some real parenting right there. They went to Europe immediately. Wouldn't it be nice if all parents were this amazing â€
-
As a hockey fan, I only knew Duncan's story as a first round bust who died in a skiing accident. Props to Mr. Ballen for giving the full details and humanizing Duncan as more than just a news story
-
Imagine searching all those years for your child just to find out he could've been saved and no one will be held accountable
-
that employee murdered him, and its absolutely horrible how they got away with this, limitation for certain crimes just simply should not exist, its absurd that they even do exist in the first place for some crimes.

The instructor should not of told a novice to go out there on his own no matter how good his first lesson was
