You will never see this dark, auteur, subversive film maker the same way When you remember that the man's beloved wife wrote an entire gag manga about how much of a wholesome, unironic nerd he is for tokusatsu hero shows. What a king.

"Have you become so fond of humans?" One of my favorite sayings and love for Ultraman.
  • I love how this movie isn't really the dark and scary movie people expected from Shin Ultraman because of Shin Godzilla and Evangelion. We already have that and that's called Ultraman Nexus which is VERY GOOD. Shin Ultraman captures the nuanced sci-fi and light commentary on humanity vibe of the showa era series'.

"Have you become so fond of humans?" "Have we forgotten we were humans once?" "They aren't supposed to know that until 2006." "They've always known. That's why they call us Ultraman."
  • I love it when you talk about Ultraman! I feel like Ultraman doesnt get a lot of love from the American Toku fans.

You can consider this as a big video similar to a “History of,” but it’s probably the biggest we’ve ever made it! Another big thank you to Liz, Mako, and Ferbus for their contributions!
  • This is how a reboot should be made. Using original sources as well as paying tribute to the original design and modernizing the concepts beautifully. I look forward to Shin Seven and Shin Kaetekkita.

I never considered that reading of M87, but I absolutely love it now. We, humanity, didn't just find our way because we met Ultraman. Ultraman became complete because he met us, and that's why he loves us.

I have an idea. Its a stupid idea, but an idea nonetheless. Going back to Shin Goji, we see his tail sprouting humanoid like creatures. What if some of them actually thaw out? What if it leads to creations of "super soldier" in a "squadron"? Yes, I propose the premise of Shin Super Sentai, in particular, Shin Gorenger, fighting off Shin Goji's offsprings in a far off future. Farfetched, but I think it could be decent.
  • I was wondering why Ultraman seems so separate from other Tokusatsu. This series uses crossovers sparingly while Kamen Rider and Super Sentai do it every year.

That scene is beautiful. he even sacrifice his life for a human to live,

I've been realizing that I'm okay with the Ultraman series, but I LOVE the Ultra Galaxy Fight spinoff so much more because the Ultramen and women are the characters, not the humans they bond with.
  • I want to spin off show, featuring the characters from this movie. Also M87 goes hard That's all
  • Thank you a lot for making this video and you, Liz, and Makomattari are able to discuss and explain more about Shin Ultraman and what makes it special and beautiful more than I can imagine. It's one of the best History series that you have ever written so far and you and your team had even explored more about Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi's life more in depth which means a lot!! So thank you for helping me learn and better understand why I love Shin Ultraman a lot!!

The moment I saw this video in my notification, I directly went and watched it regardless of time (it was around 4 in the morning here). And I commented now only after I saw all of it. Needless to say, I have nothing much else to, well, say since this review is so comprehensive it's like Blunova & Monstrosities' Shin Ultraman videos put together in one giant compilation movie (it's a compliment btw). Props to all the people who did the scriptwriting & editing for this video and (of course) your narration, Marco 👍. I hope we can see Lipiah again in a continuation even though he already gave his life 😇. And I'm glad this video also noticed that Ultraman Powered (The Ultimate Hero) has dope redesigns of classic ultra kaijus (even though the fighting sucks 😅).
  • Peak content. This is what I subscribe for. Wanna know something funny? I didn't even realise that they removed the grunting sound that ultraman had until you pointed it out lol.
  • @Topgunnder
Phenomenal job on this absolutely nailed it out the park - the movie was amazing and I'm glad you managed to capture all the nuances within this video

Such a great video, thank you! Seeing Shin Ultraman in theaters was my first exposure to Ultraman at all. I'm a long time Sentai and new Kamen Rider fan so I wanted to dip my toe into the the remaining member of the big three. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and this gave me a lot of great insight into things I don't know being outside of the fandom.

God, this video was beautiful. I’m honestly surprised more people haven’t watched it, because this is such an insightful look into the movie, both in front of & behind the scenes.
