Whether you have straight hair, thick hair, wavy hair, fine hair or thin hair, these hairstyles are sure to make a statement. From edgy and bold to soft and feminine, there's a pixie cut out there for everyone.
First up, we have a longer short hair hairstyle very similar to the Bixie Hairstyle. This timeless style is perfect for those who want a longer current look that's still stylish and sophisticated. This cut is perfect for anyone who isn’t ready to go super short but still wants to accentuate their facial structure.
Next, we have a few hairstyles that are versions of longer pixie hairstyles. These styles are all about creating volume and texture in the right places, and are perfect for people who really want to lift their faces (like mini face lifts). They are the perfect mix of edgy and feminine.
For those who want a more dramatic look, we have an undercut pixie. This is probably my favorite of the short pixie hairstyles and is great for those who really want an edgy short hairstyle that can also be styled very polished and conservative.
Last on the list we have the short pixie. This is a low maintenance style that’s great for anyone with small bone structure. They have a ton of movement and texture and scream confidence.

  • Love the vid….that being said all the ladies are size 8 and under. I’d love too see shapes and short styles for us bigger gals. We tend to shy away from short because it draws attention too our bumps and curves. Ive had a angled bob for last 10 years…..im over it!!
  • Turned 50 eleven years ago and decided I didn't care anymore what people thought about my ears that stick out. Got a pixie and love it! I receive many compliments and comments about how good it looks on me. A real confidence booster! 😊
  • I had long, thin, curly hair until I was in my mid twenties. Hallie Berry came on the scene with her shirt pixie cut and I loved her cut so much I went to my hairdresser and told him to go for it! It’s hair, it’ll grow back. Haven’t looked back and have loved every minute of my short hair!

Oh wow… this came at such a funny time! I’ve had short hair, sometimes extremely short hair, for many years. While on lockdown and all the Covid happening I grew my hair out to almost shoulder length. (It is white I’m 75 and texture is fine).. this looked ok snd I got compliments on my color mostly.. but one day I saw a reflection and thought “Omg I’m one of the Golden girls!!! Lol.. “. I looked old and dated. I’ve always loved an edgy cut and look..I’m very thin, worked in cosmetics and tend to wear black, I never go out without makeup/jewelry and it’s all about drama….sooo! Off came the hair! I left the sides a bit less tight (I used to shave the sides and nape—this time it is about an inch scissor cut-overall layers-very choppy-top a TINY bit longer. I spike it up on top and it feels like me..(long face and all! ..but the upward movement of the hair helps lift my face and take away from the fullness around the slight jowl I have. I was recently shopping with my granddaughter, and a woman came up to me. She said she was a hairdresser and just wanted to say how she thought my look was so exceptional. I feel like me! Yes, I know short hair is not for everyone… but it is nice to stand out a bit. I think the versatility is amazing..I wish more stylists would show more ideas like this. Thank you for taking on the subject.
  • Thank you for addressing short hair. I have thick hair so my Bob often looked like a wig. Tossed caution to the wind and cut a longer pixie. I am 75 and it lifted my face and gave me a modern youthful look. Needed this information.
  • @Cheesus4jesus
I wish the models were chubby, had saggy jowls and thin hair and all over 50 so those of us in the majority could get a better idea what short styles would look like on us lol! Helen Mirren went from short to long recently and looks great. Some of it looks like extensions though...
  • I have short hair, and I have done just about all of these styles. As I get older, it does look more like old lady hair. I would love a video on the techniques and products to get it to look less styled and have more movement. I love your videos!
  • Love the last cut. At 77 I finally have a style I love that compliments my silver hair. So easy and so fun...and I don't have to worry about coloring my roots for the first time in my life. Yay!
  • @leneskov5184
I actually have the short pixie #5 - by accident. I used to have longer hair but one day I decided to cut it myself 😳😬 I was bad, really bad. So the only way the hairstylist could make a decent hairstyle out of my mess was to give me a short pixie😜 And it looked great - have had it now for 5 years. 😀
  • @MarykadeVries
I chopped my shoulder length hair to a short pixie a few weeks ago. Man does it boost confidence! What I love most is my natural grey gives the style so much dimension and almost makes my face sparkle. Great video. Thanks.
  • I'm so excited to see myself (as one of your favourites, #4 no less!) in this great video. What an honour! I am going to send this to all of my haters who just don't get it, and feel that I should have a haircut "more appropriate for my age". 😂 Thank you!
  • @dianetough8100
I watched this video and then went and got a pixie - I'm 69, and I am loving it!
  • Hi Justin! Love your videos. And I thought your assessment was spot on!! The only comment I have is that the name of this video is about short hairstyles for women over 50, yet the women you show, none of them have a double chin or a “turkey” neck, which is what a lot of women that age contend with. And which is exactly why I can’t wear shorter styles. 😔 To do so emphasizes my chin, jaw and or neck. I’m 67 and wear my hair in an inverted Bob with the longer hair in front “covering” my chin from my profile. You know what I mean? I wish you could do a video on hairstyles that can help distract away from the many flaws a woman can have. Like being overweight, too round a face, elongated ear lobes, pointy head, flat head in the back, lol etc. Thanks Justin. Love you!!
  • I love short hair but curly girls struggle with it. I’d love to see any videos dedicated to wavy/curly medium length hair. I just moved to a new state and had the worst haircut ever! I need you Justin 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  • I actually LOVE everyone of these cuts! I was told a long time ago that I should never have short hair because I'm so short (I'm not small in stature IM SHORT!!! Lol) I'm only 4ft tall and she said that it would cut off the eye, or somethin like that. Like I told her though, a hair length ain't gonna help your girl out at 4 ft!! What I like the thought of is just opening up my fave a bit, so I look more alive, and awake! I wish I knew how to do that, without cutting my hair. By the way, I love your video's! I know that you do a lot of hard work to bring us these videos every single week! And I just wanna say thank you for all you do for us!
  • I'm 60 and wear a cut similar to #4, platinum and sides shaved close. Currently, am ready for a change and am keeping the shaved sides, platinum color, and doing a grow out just for fun. You are so right about having confidence in one's hairstyle and look. Being older I am not as concerned with the criticisms of others as when younger either. Live with joy and appreciate the compliments when they come! Keep up the wonderful work you are doing!
  • I loved the last thing you said about a more natural, messy look vs a stiff, contrived look is more youthful. Back in the day, I used Loreal Elnett like it was going out of style! Now its just texture spray and out the door. Thanks for all you do Justin-- Cant wait for you collab with Glam Girl Gabi
  • @Andra-cr9cd
I love #4 as well! It takes a confident woman to wear it and I'm always impressed by those who do! Thanks for the helpful tips and tricks. If and when I ever go short, I'll be sure to use them!
  • I totally agree. I wear my hair short, but I never brush to set it. I run my fingers through it to make it look a little messy, but away from my face. I am a old girl. I love to watch you, you are amazing! You always give amazing advice with excellent explanations.
