I'm childfree and have no interest in having children, but this video was still fascinating to me. Someone who uses a sperm donor has a child who is wanted and loved instead of one born out of something else.

Wow I actually didn’t realise that family limit is so…internationally pointless. Thank you for sharing that!
  • You are so incredibly wise beyond your years. It seems like you truly considered every possible factor and how it would impact your child.

My husband has similar colouring to you, but our son is fair with green eyes like me. It’s smart you went with someone who looks like you because there’s no guarantee the darker features would be dominant 😅

I'm in South Africa and unfortunately all our donors are anonymous 🤦🏻‍♀️ I did use one with similar features to me (brown hair, blue eyes), and my son doesn't have my hair color yet, however from his facial features, he does look a lot like me. And I saw 2 baby photos... But my son looks nothing like those 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 I have an Rh- blood group, so I specifically looked for a donor that was negative as well... If I didn't have to get the Rhogam shot, why do it 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 so this was almost most important to me... And most people in general are Rh+, so it narrowed down my search.. My whole family is also white, so I never wanted to choose a non-white donor. My donor also felt like the perfect one and I'm so glad I used him.

    Very interesting video, thank you!
  • How does it work in terms of siblings? If you were to want more children would you use the same donor so that you're children are full siblings and not half siblings? Are you allowed to use the same donor more than once? What happens if your donor doesn't wish to provide any more donations - are there rules surrounding that?

I appreciate you sharing your (so very private journey).
  • Important info about genetics for future sperm buyers. Just because you got sperm from a person that has specific looks (specific hair colour, eye colour, etc.) doesn’t mean that the baby will look like that because the genes of your and the sperm donor‘s family will have an impact on the baby’s looks. A good example is my nephew. My sister is blond with brown eyes and her husband is mixed race (half black, half white) with brown skin tone, brown curly hair and brown eyes and my nephew has fair skin, blond hair and blue eyes. He looks nothing like my brother in law….and yes he is his son (he’s an ivf child, so we know for sure!). My mother has blue eyes and blond hair and my brother in law’s father also had blond hair and blue eyes and that’s were my nephew got his looks from.

Tysm! I'm stressed with the choice. Do I want to try have a child who looks as close to me as possible or one who may have completely different features? I'll figure it out for when I start my journey, which isn't for a while yet.

It's interesting you said on your dads side there's history of heart issues in the males in his side. Because my hubby is the same. There's heart problems throughout the males on his dads side too. Wonder why it's just the males?!
  • @AprilAyden
It's funny because me and my husband both have green eyes and one of our 3 children had brown eyes and the other 2 have blue eyes 😂

What sperm bank did you use if you dont mind ? I like the idea of knowing alot of information about the donor , ive been looking into it and trying to make up my mind for years now.
  • @jivingdodo
Cryos sperm bank in Denmark does adult photos too - not just American banks. Also I believe Cryos also has donors who also donated in the US so it's not quite as clear cut as European banks not sharing donors with the US unfortunately. .
  • Both of my parents have brown hair however my brother and I are red heads lol. My husband has dark hair both of our children have brown hair, funny how genetics work.
