Jupiter in Astrology: Meaning Explained

2021-09-13に共有
Discussing the meaning of the planet Jupiter in astrology, and explaining what it signifies in a birth chart, with astrologers Samuel F. Reynolds and Chris Brennan.

In astrology Jupiter is generally said to signify growth, expansion, wisdom, abundance, justice, freedom, religion, philosophy, faith, righteousness, success, fecundity, and aggrandizement.

Jupiter is said to rule the signs of Sagittarius in Pisces, have its detriment in the opposite signs of Gemini and Virgo, and to have its exaltation in Cancer and fall in Capricorn.

During the course of the episode we read through some passages from different ancient and modern astrologers in order to understand how Jupiter has been conceptualized in the astrological tradition, and use that as a jumping off point for further discussions.

Some of the different astrologers we read through during the course of the episode are Vettius Valens, Abu Ma'shar, William Lilly, Reinhold Ebertin, Steven Forrest, and Richard Tarnas.

  • Let us know your Jupiter sign in the comments below! Chris is ♑ and Sam is ♍! Here are some glyphs you can copy and paste: ♈ ♉ ♊ ♋ ♌ ♍ ♎ ♏ ♐ ♑ ♒ ♓
  • My son is a Pisces sun and sag moon and rising, and has Jupiter in libra in the 11th conjunct MC. He is only 4 but everything has to be BIG with this kid. When I ask him what he wants to be when he grows up he just says HUGE. He takes enormous bites of food (like ridiculously big bites but he just likes it that way 🤷‍♀️). He also is popular with his friends because he will rig up all the bikes in the play yard so he can pull multiple friends around all at once. Excited to see how his Jupiter plays out through his life. My daughter also has an exalted Jupiter in cancer and is extremely generous, almost to a fault sometimes. Loved this talk, thanks!!
  • The moment he looked up at the sky after saying Jupiter wasn’t his favorite planet was the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a long time.
  • @r.j.8220
Can he be a guest more often? Really enjoyed the energy between you both.

Chris is such a good podcast host, he has a very soothing voice, he is an incredible speaker and has a vast knowledge of astrology 👏👏
  • I cherish this. These two guys are highly highly intellectual and spiritual at the same time even with an often skeptical jupiter in virgo placement.
  • @TECHN0
I have a feeling I’ll be watching this episode a few times over the coming years. Thank you.
  • I loved this presentation - clear, concise, essential - the Jupiterian qualities of good teachers! 🙏🏻
  • This has been my favourite planetary deep dive episode. Flowed really well!
  • Having children is also an expansion. You're expanding your bloodline and the reach of your family. This was a great episode! Everything was very on track and it felt like even though it was shorter than the usual video, it was still jam packed with information! ♏
  • The planets talks is such a fantastic series. I took notes and quotes from this one, I’m learning so much and am grateful to have such scholars accessible for free like this. Love the insights on excess of Jupiter and its moderation by Saturn.
  • So fitting that you’re back in the studio for the Jupiter episode! 💙
  • Great talk :) . Samuel was a great choice for a guest, love his sincere voice and critical thought approach and his contributions on the old 'Pluto' episode too. As Jupiter is the only planet that exerts a force on the Sun strong enough to pull it from its center point, the themes of expansion / aspiration and deep knowledge maybe in fluid dialogue with the creative will of the Sun. One may imagine that the sweeping effect from Jupiter / Sun opposition to Jupiter / Sun conjunction is a powerful waxing a waning cycle net around our personal planets. I have Jupiter in ♌
  • It’s so interesting that you mentioned @39:00 law of attraction and how it comes naturally to some people with Jupiterian energy just based on their optimistic nature. I’m a Pisces sun, Sagittarius moon, Scorpio rising with 9th house Jupiter in Leo (close to my Leo mid heaven). I very much relate to having an extreme faith and optimism and having things just constantly work out for me. I noticed it really annoy others at times but I view it as nothing short of a divine blessing lol.
  • I think that this interview may be my favorite that you have done Chris.. Sam and you both have such a deep knowledge of astrology. . Also the harmony that you seem to have with one another created a great flow to this video. I learned more about how Jupiter function in my own life. Having the Sun, Mercury and Jupiter conjunct in Pisces this was particularly meaningful. Many thanks.
  • Another great episode in this series! I appreciated Samuel's insight about Jupiter return signalling a reward for excellence or a reveal of excess. Thank you :)
  • Love, love love this episode! The flow of conversation and ideas is practically musical. Namaste, Sam and Chris!
  • Great episode! Sam is wonderfully articulate. Could have listened for hours ✨
  • Absolutely Love these podcasts! Thank you so much! Always so fun to listen & work with the material in our own lives & Charts.
