To address the comments concerning the inclusion of Black Panther in the video and on the thumbnail, I want to shed some light on how we produce these videos in part to assure you that our intention was certainly not to be opportunistic or exploitive. Movie Lists are planned well in advance of their release. This particular video was written nearly a month ago and the edit had been in progress for a while as well. The video was not conceived as a reaction to Chadwick Boseman’s death, but, as we feel Black Panther is a worthy and important inclusion on this list, a leader as good as any portrayed on film, the Black Panther section needed to acknowledge his passing over the weekend. In the past we have paid homage to actors we admire and characters who are important to so many, and will continue to do so in keeping with the spirit of our channel, which is a celebration of those parts of cinema that have been most meaningful to us. However, we hear you about his inclusion on the thumbnail, and that it might be in poor taste, so we’re changing the cover image. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Every time I'm troubleshooting a problem I'll hear Gene Krantz in my head "Let's work the problem people. Let's not make things worse by guessing."

nice to see Das Boot get some more recognition here
  • I'd add M. Gustave from the Grand Budapest Hotel. He is a flawed leader, but a spectacular one none the less!

Even if he didn't win, I'm glad Mr. Rogers got screen time in the "Emotionally Intelligent Leader" section. I just wish he was still around... the world was a brighter place with him in it.

No mention of the steward from LOTR?? "ABANDON YOUR POSTS!!! FLEE!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!" Gandalf: bonk

Maximus is one of the greatest character introductions ever: he seems oppulent, aloof, and callous. "The risk to the cavalry is acceptable" sets him up as a villian, then we find out he's leading the cavalry himself.
  • I would've liked to see a spot focused on a "flawed leader." Most portrayals of leadership in film aren't relevant to real life because real people don't always do the right thing. Someone like Aragorn who can resist the temptation of the ring Isn't likely to exist in real life. Obviously that's fine because that's film and it would be boring if everything was hyper realistic. I just thought that would have made for an interesting spot.
  • One of my favorites is Jack Aubrey is Masterand Commander: the Far Side of the World
