Storm Babet Hits Teignmouth, Devon | Huge Waves Crash Over Seawall

Storm Babet produced huge waves and strong winds to cause havoc in Teignmouth, Devon today (Wednesday 18 October).

The strong wind caused a number of large waves to crash over the seawall and onto the road.

The Met Office issued a red weather warning for 'exceptionally heavy and persistent rain across eastern Scotland' - the storm has been named Storm Babet.

The Environment Agency has issued further flood alerts across the UK. Dawlish Coastguard are asking people to stay away from the coast.

    A storm in the early 60s left a hole in front of the Beach Hotel you could lose a car in. I lived at Overcliff Guest House at the time and we could see the spray from waves as high as St Michael's flag staff atop the tower.

    The storm caused damage locally, including sinking a number of boats, destroying beach huts and damaging roads

    That's not a storm during the war ,,I was a on a submarine ,and we was lifted out and landed on top of the edison lighthouse ,,you ask uncle Albert he was with me on look out duty 😅

    In my time at sea in the Merchant Navy been in weather like this many many times in the Irish Sea in the North Sea, and all over the World stop building it up like it's something that never happened before.
