I have to say this was one of the most amazing wildlife documentaries I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot). I have no idea how you guys were not only able to follow the dogs thru all the rough , uneven , thick Bush terrain on your motor bikes, but also manage to get that footage actually viewable - no shaky camera focus bouncing all over the place- the drone footage was spectacular. Great job to all involved in this documentary. Hope you guys continue doing this to spread awareness and educate the rest of the world.
  • “It’s hard to beat someone who doesn’t give up” - Babe Ruth. The Wild dogs philosophy is what’s made it so prominent and dangerous to other wild animals game and predators alike.

I love how the buffalo nonchalantly walks up to three adult lions like "yeah the f*ck you gonna do?"
  • These dogs are something else. They work together and they share everything with each other. The pup's are on the top of their list. If a dog is hurt or to old to hunt they will still take care of it. They remind me of wolves. I love wolves also. They just got a bad rap I think.

These dogs are like a cohesive military unit: teamwork, cohesion, strategy, tending to the wounded and young pops among them. Reminds me of when I was still in the US Army.

These are my favorite pack hunting species. African wild dogs, also referred to as Painted dogs or Cape hunting dogs are really remarkable. They are 100% cooperative. They don't fight or squabble at a kill. Being one of the smallest of Africa's apex predators, they can't afford to be caught off guard by hyenas or lions. They kill swiftly, eat swiftly, leave the kill site quickly, and share meals with pups and babysitters, as well as old or injured pack members. They are THE most efficient mammalian pack hunters on the planet. Nothing else comes close except for Dholes in India. (Ironically, these are their closest living canine relative, as wild dogs are in a genus all of their own. Lycaon). I saw comments made about their killing method being gruesome or the worst way to go. In actuality, prey species go into shock as they are being consumed or eviscerated. Death is usually extremely swift. Under a minute. It looks bad, but it is soon over. I think that overall, wild dogs could be summed up in one word, efficiency. What they lack in size compared to lions, hyenas, leopards, cheetahs, and crocodiles, they make up for in determination, cooperativeness, efficiency, and unity. The bikes were really awesome. What a great tool toward filming and studying the pack. Acclimating wild dogs to dirt bikes for observation is pretty shrewd. The footage is so revealing. And the drone accompaniment was excellent. I really enjoyed this documentary. Kudos!

Wild dogs are fascinating! Our crew recently filmed a project that aimed to reintroduce African wild dogs to their natural habitat. They are listed as globally endangered, and we're happy to see projects like this and also curious to learn about their results.
