OMG Quinton, you can't just ask a Garfield why they're white.
  • @zeejey
The orange eyelids make me think you're probably correct; if it were sun damaged, the eyes would be faded too.
  • A white tiger Garfield! Just as rare and majestic as the real white tiger.
  • @eepiestgirll
reminds me of the all-white mario plush that you were meant to draw on/color and then wash to be able draw on again
  • He might've been bleach bleached, like with the kind you actually use for laundry. I remember back in the day an arcade around me used to bleach some of their prize tickets as decorative trim around their prize counter and those still had their text on them. Different dyes and plastics could react differently which could explain why the black is still there. Or, it's possible he was completely bleached and the owner just recolored in the stripes with sharpie after.
  • I wonder if he was some kind of 'practice run'/prototype plushie?
  • @Salem-Sins
i like that even white garfield is rocking some orange eyeshadow
  • @Has-uo1lq
yeah if he really was sunbleached i feel like the plastic on his eyes would be effected too, neat lil guy almost look naked

I'm thinking it's probably some kind of factory error-like the plush-making process is entirely automated, but one of the "skins" somehow failed to be dunked into the orange dye then went on to get its stripes painted on and its eyes/mouth sewn in. I partially wonder how a mistake of this magnitude wouldn't be caught by quality control, but if they were making millions of these damn things, it stands to reason that at least one would slip through the cracks!

The bright orange eyelids and clearly visible stripes makes me think that he was just made in that shade of white. Especially since sunbleaching would have lightened his fur unevenly. Overall he seems like a great find!
  • @erikm8373
he probably fell into those chemicals that made the Joker
  • I saw before some Mario plushies that were white and came with special markers, so kids could colour the plushy themselves. I think that might be similar thing
  • Maybe he was like a Halloween or winter or something plushee and he's missing his outfit?
  • @bowie5171
Imagine the creators just made one shiny Garfield
  • @Hamunculu5
Maybe it's like those old color mario toys
  • My guess is that it might have been a mock up. I make plushies at home for fun, and a tip I've heard is making a prototype to test the pattern out and see if it turns out the way you planned. Maybe they used scrap fabric instead of the good orange fabric. This is my theory because its white, but the eyes and mouth seem like the correct colors. And the stripes almost look like they were just drawn on with marker. Maybe it was made to figure out the placement of the stripes
  • This is what happens when you hire your printer to make stuff edit animals, and you don't pay them in magenta ink.
  • I’d love to watch a video where you talk about Garfield plushies and their background from when they were produced!
