In this video we look at how to get cue ball position when potting a ball in the jaws of the pocket. Whilst the post is almost impossible to miss, predicting the path of the cue ball afterwards and getting position off a ball in the jaws can be quite difficult because of the shape of the pockets on an English pool table.
The shots are carried out on a 7ft Supreme Winner UK 8 ball table

  • This has got to be the most comprehensive YouTube channel dedicated to playing 8 Ball Pool 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’m loving it. I’ve just got my first table so I’ve now got time to learn more about the intricacies playing this game that I’ve loved for years down the pub. I’ve now got time to learn in more detail. Please please keep going with this channel 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  • Thanks for taking onboard my suggestion. Very well explained and hopefully will be helpful for myself and others in the future. 👍🏻

Another gem! Great tips. I swear this game never gets any easier. The more I learn, the more need to learn. Ha. Thanks for the great video Sir. 👍🏽
  • Great stuff. It's easy to take these for granted but actually as you show, super-tricky.

I think a good point to add to this is considering how the ball has got there in the first place - sometimes it may be off of the break and unavoidable. However if you are in control of the table avoid putting your ball so deep into the pocket into the first place when playing your combination/loss of turn/deliberate foul if the situation allows it. You can play the first ball onto the second with a slightly thinner angle and this will cause the ball to bounce outwards. This can allow you to avoid the knuckles of the pocket completely in the following shot. Obviously entirely situational to your game and layout of balls
  • very well explained nice to see this in uk pool as most teachers on youtube are amreican and the pockets are diffrent shape so there advise may not work with our shape pockets great vid mate.

Nice job, I always enjoy your videos. Plenty of explaination and examples and I like the white ball in the top to show where you are striking.

Yes great video and it’s good to see what happens when the demonstrations goes wrong, if that makes sense, because hitting the object ball in the wrong place with side spin shows how the side throws it of path, in turn, making you hit the wrong line of the shot and possibly missing the pot. So it’s a good thing to see a bad demonstration. So not only are we getting shown the better ways to play balls in the jaws, we are also getting a lesson on the side spin effect and how using it throws the white ball of path. So all in all a really good video to watch and learn from. Thank you mate.

Very good video for me. I lost a league match last week as i lost position off a ball in the jaws and left myself a tricky black. I should have played a stop shot and left myself a medium level shot on the black, rather than trying to get better position, failing and leaving a difficult pot. Great video though and one i will include in my practice 👍

Another great tutorial. If you are open to video suggestions could you do one on how you play pool towards the end of a league night when you've had 5 or 6 pints of lager? 😀
  • Hey there, if you take requests, I’d be interested in a video on how to play black ball fights. Me and my friend get into black ball fights regularly and I id like to know safety tactics you use.
