This is Light’s punishment. Instead of going to hell he became a Netflix adaptation
  • Anime: Light uses the deathnote to become the god of the world. Netflix: uses deathnote to get a girlfriend

okay but Willem Dafoe as Ryuk is a chef's kiss choice. That man could read the phone book and sound like an unhinged maniac

I’m convinced the writers of this movie never watched death note. It’s like they looked a few things about the characters and the plot then decided to make a really crappy movie based off the scraps of information they had.

"His name's Japanese he must be in Japan" Weeb gamers with Japanese usernames: nervous sweating
  • The painful part to me is there are so many "Death Note" stories people can tell. It doesn't have to be the battle of Light and L or N and that one kid who basically killed trump. You could drop the Deathnote into any country in any time period with any type of character and get a wild ride. But instead we got this.

    Anime Light: Calmly meets Ryuk Movie Light: S C R E A M I N G
  • Anime: “I want to tell you I am L” everything freezes and it’s dramatic Netflix adaption: “Oh you’re that L guy lol hey.”

I am honestly shocked that they thought that adapting the Death Note anime into a movie was a good idea. The anime is 37 episodes and there is ZERO filler. They could cut out the part with Near, but that's still like 19 episodes, which is still like 7 straight hours. How did they think they could capture the essence of all of that into 90 minutes?? It would take like 60 minutes just to explain the mechanics of the death note

I think the worst part about death note getting a shitty live action is the fact that out of all the anime’s to get a live action it is probably one of the ones that would work best in a live action and they still fucked it up

Light in the anime: I am a mastermind with a complex plan to get what I want and I plan every interaction i have to create a persona people will trust and thus making people not suspicious of me. Light in this movie: Haha notebook go brr
  • Light in the anime: Intelligence, smart, clam, fearless, handsome, etc Light in the movie : B O N K
  • The fact that the Rotten Tomatoes score for the anime is a 100% and the movie is a 36% tells you all you need to know.
  • Misa in anime: I don't want anything to happen to Light. I love him ❤. Mia in this: EVERYBODY HAS TO DIE.
  • @kerfkerf1604
Plot twist : In the movie, since Light's last name is Turner, he's related to Timmy Turner, and Ryuk is his fairly odd parent

Light : somehow only writes Watari's 1st name not knowing his full name and manages to control him. Also light: can't write L in the death note because he doesnt have his full name.

i really missed the part of multiple shinigami and the whole “forgetting the death note exists and then it coming back to them when they touch it” plot point, that was one of my favorite little plotlines in the anime.
