Too bad the student pilot didn’t have the SA to RTB with the bird, missed his chance to log the rare dual & solo time on the same sortie…

Good story ! Thanks -

Damn. It must have been bad to send the Iranian pilot back AND send the IP someplace else. It sounds a little rough. Like something they might do today.

I reported into Columbus soon afterwards. Scuttlebutt just as you recalled; Several “RESTART DURING FLIGHT” & “ALTERNATE AIRSTART” checklist attempts. Memory vaguely recalls the last ALT AIRSTART the throttles had been left in MAX AB prior to ejection and one or both occupants thought they heard the engines running as it blew past them. In PIT y’all advised us to guard the throttles from being advanced at slow speed on those Nose High Recovery demonstrations. Loved how the 38 was spin resistent. Thank you.

Hey "BOBO" just checking in after a few matches in Fighter Wing 3.1. We need more pilots to help the success of this new WWI hi fidelity/ complex control (optional rudder) air combat simulator. As always your content is brilliant and well described! My only regret is that when you start writing down the chapters into your book that your Fun-tastic accents won't be easily captured nor communicated quite the same way as being able to hear from the man that was actually in the arena...maybe you can supply a companion Audio book but please don't give the script to someone that is emotionally unattached to the story. My Vote is that you narrate it yourself Sir!

Did the IP use the correct checklist? Surely the need for speed for a restart was in the procedure. Not to pile on as we ars all human at the worst time.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was?
