The Fisker Karma is the world's first luxury plug-in hybrid. It gets a 270bhp petrol engine combined with two powerful electric motors, which can propel it to 62mph in 6.3sec and return over 60mpg. Read the review at www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Fisker-Ka…

I took a test drive- AWESOME car! Impressive handling & braking. This is a true series hybrid (gas engine doesn't drive the wheels at all) and truly one of a kind! Plus its good to know its a more stable battery than the Volts that catch fire when crashed! Its rumored there will be a couple more models coming in 2-3years in a lower price range :)

Wow that is a real feat of engineering! Incredible! Congrats to Fisker :)

It's an amazing looking car, and the fact that it's a relatively unknown brand makes it extra exiting when people look at your car and cant seem to guess what it is. After we saw it at a car show in Amsterdam my father actually considered buying it.

I don't care how fast it goes; it is like a very nice looking luxury sedan, and you can actually be proud when you tell people it's a hybrid. On top of that, it's very unique and that is one of the first things I look for in a car.
  • @rx7guy21
so does the petrol engine power the car like a typical hybrid, or does it just provide power to the batteries?
  • @gweflj
A very mature review. Well done Autocar.
  • @heyedmond
so were the grilles designed with the pringles man as inspiration?
  • @mazda6tuner99
I know this is a dumb question, but the electric motor can still power the heat and A/C?
  • @theGoogol
@ArtemiyPavlov : Another thought ... since electro motors have (so to say) indefinite torque available, weight shouldn't be as much of a problem anymore. The Fisker has a 2 litre turbo charged engine and still does all it does at the weight it has.
  • @pex3
@Skalde76 that's not very surprising. i assume the engine is super or turbocharged.
  • @pex3
@shadman1911 wow... in what car is this volvo engine in?
  • @s.flanders
@LancerVX What's wrong with it? What should they have put in it?
  • @ArtemiyPavlov
@Molo9000 did Fisker calculate that with the petrol range extender only? I doubt so, and in that case, they didn't take into account the electric power station CO2. Then there's the weight again, and cost of the vehicle which is 30-40% more than Panamera diesel that you mentioned.
  • @NathanPl
first thing you do to that car after getting it - dechroming the 'stache. honestly though, i wish Fisker all the best and hope the car will sell well.
  • @ArtemiyPavlov
@Molo9000 Well but we can only assume which proportion of stealth and sport mode they've used... This is pure speculation for now, for both sides, mine or yours. I just remember all the performance/spirited tests of recent electric or plugin vehicles, and in many cases their batteries run out of juice too quickly. I am still very skeptical of this direction, too many questions!
  • @Augustus222
@rudiratte1 And those numbers are calculated with fully charged batteries (plug in hybrid). For the distance the car can travel without using the combustion engine are seen as 0 emisssion although the car needs some form of electricity to charge the batteries in the first place. This is the reason the Porsche 918 hybrid concept was advertised with 3 liters per 100km. And it has a high revving 500hp v8 in the back, yeah rigth :D.
  • @CSIS25
@vsc1217 i agree, after looking at it for a while it looks really nice
  • @k0walsk
Not to mention the design which is absolutely top-notch.
