Published 2022-10-04
Join me for PART 1 in a homeschool mom ditl (day in the life of a homeschool mom of 6). Homeschool Mama Friends out there, I've read your comments and heard you, as requested this series will have more DETAILS. I couldn't fit everything in one video, so this is PART 1 and in it I share most of my (homeschool mom) morning routines. I have ADHD, a homeschooling ADHD teenager, and tween and so bit's of that are reflected here. This year I'm homeschooling two in high school, plus kids in 7th, 4th, 2nd grades and preschool/preK.

PART TWO    • A Day in the Life of a Homeschool Mom...
In part 2 I'm sharing WHAT KEEPS ME GOING after 13 years of homeschooling and how I handle attitude problems (mine and the kids).
Did you know my video's now have SUPER THANKS? Each of my video's takes on average THREE days to script, film and edit using professional equipment; if they are a blessing to you and you'd like to help keep them coming you can! At the bottom of each video you'll see SUPER THANKS and you can make a donation to help me make more videos! Every donation is DEEPLY appreciated and goes towards production and time costs.

Hello! I'm Shayla, a homesteading homeschool mom to 6 wildlings, & wife to one. We're a big, Jesus loving, God fearing family & we love to laugh!

Hubby & I are second generation homeschoolers, & have been homeschooling our children from the start-since around 2009. We were raised unconventionally, and our parents utilized homesteading before it was trendy, so it was a goal and dream of ours to do the same-but it's only been recently that we have been able to bring this dream to full potential. Recently the Heavenly Father brought to life our dream that we've had for over 25 years and enabled us to buy a mountain homestead fixer upper, so join us in the adventures and fun here at our new homeschool/homestead! Be sure to subscribe (I try to upload weekly).

  • This has to be the most realistic YouTube video I’ve seen yet….. This right here is REAL MOMMY LIFE!!!😂😂❤❤
  • @FaeganAdams
You have no idea how much this video is helping me. The Lord has made it very clear that I am to homeschool all three of my children from now on. At first I was only homeschooling my eighth grader because of middle school nightmares but in the past month, he has told me to bring my first grader home and because I already had a preschooler. I am now home schooling an eighth grader, first grader and preschooler. This morning in my prayer time, he said that I need to make home schooling a priority above all else so in my despair lol, I turned to YouTube to find someone who is doing the same. This video, the realness, the layout, hearing all the things that I hear on a daily basis, from my children come from yours is extremely settling. I know Youtubing and homeschooling may be extremely hard but please do not stop sharing your life on YouTube. I know it’s helping many, many mommies ♥️ I pray for your strength, agility, and the abundance of grace, as I pray the same things for myself lol ❤
  • @JuliaCantley
Oh the sighs and all the mental load of preparing this and getting the kids to do work while you are doing something else. I see you. It's so much. Thank you for the real and lovely DITL.
  • @kennalong
I needed this!! 😂 I felt your sigh when your little one was whining about handwriting. That’s me every day with my son over his handwriting!! 😂 seriously, thank you for being real and sharing your life!
  • @karlenwilson2909
I’m subscribing right now! We are in a “learning obedience phase” and I’ve started asking them to respond with “Yes, Mommy”. And I also tend to skip breakfast and get cranky
  • Oh my word 😭 I’m so happy I’m not alone. Been feeling pretty helpless most days and leaning towards giving up homeschooling as well… 😭❤️🙏🏻 .. such a BEAUTIFUL day in the life.. helped me sort of find peace and grace in my own life and reset my mind to start a new homeschool routine. Thanks for the raw and unedited content and sharing the family meeting!! I struggle where In the world to start off in the morning and what classes to tackle! Really appreciate you!!!!
  • @mzfitmama2361
Ow dang that deep huff of breathe when your telling her about the handwriting. I looked around puzzled like does she live this same life as me 😂 😅?!? Sooo relatable. Was so comforting to be able to Relate!!! Thanks for sharing momma!!!
  • @elizabeth8149
Oh mama, the mixing up of the day old coffee then the new coffee being cold is so relatable 😂 It's so refreshing seeing a home that isn't pinterest perfect and the kiddos not immediately falling into line with what you say. Just so real My little 3 year old joined in on your prayer 🙏
  • @megangoodall545
Oh my goodness this video is the most real video. It’s my favorite now to go back to for encouragement that I’m not alone. I literally had this same conversation with my kids this morning 😅
  • @KalleSchrader
My husband found your account this morning while searching for some home remodeling/decorating ideas for our first home. And I'm SO glad he did!! I've only watched a handful of your videos but I've truly been blessed by them. I resonate so deeply with much of what I've heard you share and admire your heart to glorify God and make content for other Christian women. Further up and in, sister! Have a glorious Lord's Day!
  • @kristimckeon6967
Haha you are a kindred spirit. It's like watching myself. Ive only been fully homeschooling 4 years as my oldest is 8 but we have also been moving since starting to have kids and are in the middle of building our house and homestead. Everything you said and did is the story of my life. Thank you for sharing.
  • This was lovely. Thank you for bringing us along for some honesty and some inspiration! God bless!
  • @artmama19
This was very good, it helps to know how to organize my days when the time comes. Your children know how to be responsible which is encouraging, thanks for the video!
  • @amymarie8999
I love the realness of this video! I can so relate except that I have 3 with adhd and 2 of those have learning difficulties so it makes things a little crazy for sure. I also have a 3 yr old that constantly interrupts, talks sings, and just causes a ruckus whenever she can lol.
  • Eating is a must. I learned that the hard way today. its was after 4:00 and I am eating for the first time today. We did our first day of school and I was just so caught up with getting school going and helping everyone. That was not good. I love the prayer after the meeting. I loved the video, all of it. I enjoyed seeing the real time things. I am sure that it took you a lot of your time, but I am so thankful!! I would love to hear about how you end your school day and if you have any routines to started dinner, afternoon activities, and then also house work. I would love to know how you might connect with your preschooler in the afternoons too. By the way... loved the first, second, third, and even forth breakfast lol that is so very very very true here too.
  • @brendahowell5946
I’m glad no voice over thank you Real the way it should be!
  • Thank you! I love authenticity, and this was authentically truthful and beautiful!❤
  • @arwenrosalie3031
I have adhd myself and my oldest son also has it. Some days I neeed to be outside!!! I cannot stand being indoors some days. For me being in nature reminds me how blessed we are that I am capable and most importantly it was MY dream to stay home and raise my own kids. Nature keeps me grounded especially since I do not have my family’s “approval” for staying home with my kids. They make fun of me, they interrupt lessons so I can do favors for them or simply cook for them. Its funny they know I love to cook and bake and they will randomly show up ON PURPOSE to get me behind on my schooling. Then they casually say “see you are not cut up for this”, or “you did not go to college for this”. It is so annoying. Homeschooling is not easy, very rewarding but with this kind of attitude from family it is very very hard. And yes I have spoken to them about their attitude towards my home, they do not care!
