Turtle Beach Velocity One Race Review after 3 months - Firmware Updates Make a Massive Difference!

The Turtle Beach Velocity One Race instantly caught the attention of both sim racers and console gamers considering how much it was offering for the $650 MSRP (US). With a 7.2 Nm direct drive wheel motor, included button box, internal screen, and a load-cell brake pedal, there was good reason for the excitement. It's also one of the better bundled systems on Xbox for those looking for a turn-key solution. The launch had some issues though, but it turns out many of the problems came from the firmware, and not the hardware itself. So how is it after several months of use, testing, and updates?

It's insane actually how often you see "Turtle Beach" and "Firmware updates" in one sentence. Their products always release unfinished...

I figured it still needed work, and Fanatec is going out of business. That is why I ordered the Moza R5. Should be here in a few days.

To copy your profile from the Xbox Tuner App to the wheel you have to highlight the profile you want to copy and press the 'Y' button...the instructions say press the 3 dots...but like you mentioned that doesn't work. Great video 👍

OK. Guys Here is an update on my Wheel. I heard on someones video I think, That a guy had taken his apart and fixed it. Another that when they took it apart the screws around the motor were stripped out. So, I took mine apart. There is some poor workmanship in there. OK. The motor is mounted with 4 small screws and 4 big screws. All were loose, Real loose! After 60 hours of use. I had no warranty So I had nothing to lose. I got all that tite, put it back together and the servo part works Great again now. The wheel on the other hand the top shifters still stick with every pull. I have another wheel coming that seller said does not stick. I will believe it only when I recieve and use it a while.

if this had a round wheel i'd be all over that. but not only is it D shaped, it's extremely D shaped, and there's no round wheel available for it a year on... there's loads of good ideas here. i like the display, i like the buttons, and it's a DD kit with decent pedals from the get go. also, turtle beach has decent distribution channels.

Between this and the Stealth Ultra, I'm glad there's another player in the high-end peripheral market

For the price its kinda okey. Its their first simracing product, good job to them! Shame there is no bitepoint configuration on the clutches

A bit early but will you be reviewing their new updated headset line coming out in a week or two?

I have one. They are Trash. The force feedback feels so great, until the drive shaft starts breaking loose. then it's total trash can material. For me it was at 60 hours of use. Also from the factory the padel shifters stick on both sides. So you have to drive automatic. DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU THESE ARE WORTH BUYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
