Turkey was the third largest participant in the U.N. alliance during the Korea War. Turkey is a brother country to Korea, and 720 Turkish soldiers perished in the Korean War.
The Battle of Gunuri in North Korea was one of the fiercest battles, and there, Turkish soldiers demonstrated their bravery.
Second Lieutenant Suleyman Birbiley, who fought in the Korean War under the command of the U.N., is now 85 years old.
He took care of Korean War orphan "Ayla" for a year and a half at his barracks during the war, and 60 years later, he wishes to meet her.
However, the only leads he has are photos from back then and a Turkish name, Ayla. This program will introduce the story of Mr. Birbiley, a Korean War veteran, and Ayla, and by doing that, will shed new light on the truth about the Korean War and what the U.N. alliance meant to the war.

A man on his twenties in war and raising a child is unbelievable, now adays biological fathers don't do this to their children, that shows how man he was a kind hearted man. I couldn't stop crying

I was adopted and raised by a Turkish family 40 years ago. I owe them a lot. Unfortunately the world media always expose the Turkish people differently then who they are! Visit Turkey and meet with these people you will see what I meant! They have huge heart for everyone without separate who you are. Loves and hugs from America.
  • His wife do have a big heart too.. she understands her husband more than anyone else. Accepts and calls ayla as her daughter . Very supportive.

It's crazy how the grandma loves her as her own daughter who she never met. She loved her because Ayla was her husband's daughter.

"In Turkey we give cash to children. Look I brought American dollars..." He got cash too for his 64 year old little child... 😢😢❤❤

목숨을 걸고 함께 싸워주신 튀르키예에 정말 감사하고 잊지 않겠습니다. 형제의 나라에 도움이 필요하다면 대한민국은 반드시 나설 것입니다.
  • He is not even a biological father yet never forgot about a little girl. He is a good man.
  • Depremde bizlere yardım eden Güney Kore halkına sonsuz sevgiler ve teşekkürler.Bizler kardeşiz.🤍🇰🇷🇹🇷

I can't imagine the pain they went through when they were separated. It's like for her, she lost another parent again. I'm so happy they were able to be reunited. It was so sweet seeing them preparing gifts for each other. I was weeping like a baby man when they met again.
  • She is so strong. She lost her parents twice... She also lost her husband. Life can be so sad and beautiful at the same time.
  • You don’t have to be Turkish or Korean to appreciate the humanity that these two people and their families shared. A shout out to those who made the reunion possible and also, many thanks to the makers of Kleenex.
  • This picture Ayla the orphaned girl kissing the soldier should won an Oscar —- a picture that captured the bond and love between 2 different people that lasted 60years .. such a an amazing story ❤

As a Turkish girl, I burst into tears while watching this. I am so proud of my ancestors and myself. There is enough room for everyone in the hearts of the Turkish people🇹🇷🫶
  • The moment that he said he spared money to give her as pocket money; which is a Turkish tradition on religious festivals, is really touching. That is the sign they have really deep father - daughter bond
  • As a black American I lived in turkey 2 years 6 months it was hard but I will never forget the kindness of the people I felt more safe there then in America
  • @holdofw
This is more touching than a real father and daughter. OMG..I dried up shedding much tears .

The most impressive and emotional real life story I have ever watched and heard in my life. And in a war. I bow respectfully to this brave and compassionate Turkish soldier. It is very impressive that they found each other again and hugged each other with the same love, even though 60 years have passed. It is impossible not to cry while watching all this. Suleyman is a real father with a big heart. In his eyes, Ayla is still his 5-year-old little daughter. And finally, love knows no barriers. Love has no language, color, race or religion. The most important thing in this life is to be human and remain human. I have infinite respect for the brave Turkish soldiers who fought and died for the freedom of Korea without expecting anything in return. With my respect and love to the Turkish and Korean people.
