This is Steve Eve's beautiful, huge 1/10 scale Saturn V flying on a cluster of rocket motors totaling some 42,000lbs of thrust. It was a world record for a model rocket but you wouldn't know it talking to Mr humble. Great job, Steve!!

Thanks Les, appreciate your comments. I think maybe the reason for the low hit count was that it took me a week or more to edit the footage so this video was a little late to the party. There was 1 guy who posted his the very same afternoon - that one has thousands of views. Oh well........

I started with Estes rockets when I was 13 years old when a school friend invited me to go launch his rockets. I was hooked and for 4 years I built and launched several of the kits and built several of my own design. I have nothing but respect. Steve, the craftmanship is impeccable and your engineering skills are first class. You make me proud to have been model rocketeer. All I can say is....WOW!!!

Dr. Von Braun would be proud...

...incredible, beautiful majestic lift off, almost like the real one.
  • I grew up in Huntsville in the 50’s and 60’s and used to feel the rumble from the test firing. Your launch and amazing flight brought all those memories back. Thanks for an awesome tribute.
  • I met this gentleman at the Cleveland Air Show when he had it there on display before he flew it. Very nice man.
  • I’ve been a model rocketry fanatic since my first launch (haven’t we all?) and I cannot believe I’ve never come across this video until tonight. Absolutely incredible! What a build, and holy moly....what a spectacular launch! I’d love to see the condition after recovery. Had a couple hiccups.....but dammit, that’s why rocketry is so amazing! You learn from your anomalies and you engineer solutions! Simply Amazing Sir!
  • WOW!! What a wonderful, wonderful tribute to the most amazing, awe inspiring rocket ever built!! Your model is magnificent and gave me chills to see it launch! Thanks for the inspiration!

12 years later, YouTube says "check this out!". Great videography! What a launch!
  • @musmann
Thats really amazing. I could imagine how much work and dedication, and brain power went into building that. To have it launch and come back like that must have been a great feeling. Awesome job!

Great video production -- goose bumps all the way through. What an amazing rocket and a gorgeous flight (despite the one fouled chute). AWESOME, and what a super cool guy!

This video needs more views! Amazing stuff and nice work. 👍🏼 Really gives you an idea of the scope of the actual Saturn V that this is only 1/10th scale. Unbelievable. The OG must’ve been an absolute beast. Just to think: the thrust of all J2 rockets on the second stage didn’t even match the thrust of ONE F1 rocket from the first. I’m still astonished that this rocket was able to be engineered. Seeing it launch in person and hearing and feeling that power must’ve been something else to witness. Unfortunately I was born after the Apollo program ended, but my fascination with all things Gemini, Mercury, and Apollo never ceases, and never will. I just bought the Bandai Saturn V Apollo 13 model for Xmas to myself…..can’t wait to see it on display. Again, nice work!

Oh Steve you have done it ... CONGRATULATIONS ... absolutely amazing. The successful launch and return of the multiple stages back on earth, putting in all the efforts to build it perfectly and how you spoke about your passion and this project, you are an AMAZING man.
