This came out in 1984...this band was insanely ahead of their time
-
That guitar riff at the end is a perfect mix of sadness, happiness, regret and hope. One of the greatest riffs in my opinion.
-
Kurt was a huge fan of Curt.
-
"who needs action when you've got words..."

I gotta admit I would not even know this band without the Nirvana's cover with them in the unplugged... And now disregarding the cover, I know now why Kurt liked the Meat Puppets.. Amazing guitar solo! Psychedelia! Especially in this one, "Plateau"! O_O

It's okay to like Meat Puppets & Nirvana, people. What's wrong with you?
-
that outro is amazing
-
Nirvana brought me here. Better late than never I suppose.
-
Both versions are amazing respect for both bands

Poor Meat Puppets....making awesome music for years and only when Nirvana covered some of their tracks did they get the respect they deserve. Must be infuriating. But, good on Kurt Cobain for bringing them to a global audience.

I remember buying this album around high school cuz you know... Kurt idolized them. I was so weirded out by this one. My friend and lead guitarist straight up said they sucked. But a few years later, it just clicked.... these guys are friggin geniuses. This kind of desert-backwoods strangeness was stuff that Kurt could only dream of making. One of my top 30 albums in the world.

That guitar outro is so beautiful and makes me question my existence and i love it so much

First time I heard this, I was in iraq. That was over 12 years ago. This song is still one of my absolute faves. Helped me find other good jams, and helped me through some shitty times.

So strange, but so good. Nirvana's unplugged version is really a tribute. Great song, and after 16 years still a favorite.
-
the guitar at the end makes one's day better doesn't it?
-
Both bands are fucking awesome. Who cares.
-
inspiring guitar at the end!!
-
Kurt's vocals really did this song justice in my humble opinion.
-
Ironically, putting "not nirvana" in the video description makes the video come up when you search "plateau nirvana".

No disrespect to Kurt (I think he did a great cover), but the outro of the original at 1:42 is sublime. To me it sounds like bliss - that moment when the mysterious plateau is actually found within each of us, when one is at peace. Beautiful song by a great and underrated band.
