Easy way to make homemade sauerkraut recipe

It's cabbage season at the Nutty Gnome Homestead and we're sharing our easy way to make a homemade sauerkraut recipe using lacto fermentation. Sauerkraut is a delicious and healthy method of preserving your cabbage crop. All you need to get started is a knife, salt, and something to put the cabbage in. We show our process of making sauerkraut in a food grade 5 gallon bucket, but you can replicate this recipe using a mason jar or crock.

    I use 2% non iodized Pink Salt🧂. I'm sure your ratio is fine. I made about 12 Ibs of it in a 1 gallon Mason Jar 4 1/2 hours ago(3:20am Eastern Time Zone). Does your Sauerkraut have a plastic pail taste?

    One way of putting a hand out of business is with a mandolin like that. 25 lb head of cabbage? Wow. The biggest I've seen is about 10 pounds.
