    As a mom of 8 I 100% agree with you!! I had one kid that taught themselves to read and another that struggled more and now in their teens they both love reading.

    I think the potty training analogy is really great. It can be totally awesome to learn something early, but pushing a kid before they are ready is just going to be awful! That really is one of the hard things about a class: the kids who are ready might have to wait, and the kids who aren't ready might be dragged along when they aren't ready to keep up. Hooray for homeschool! Edit to add: I hear the All About Reading readers are pretty fun too, as an option for some reading practice.
