I watched this game on tv in '97. I was 10 years old. 90s baseball was the best era. So many classic players. It will never be like that again.

Crazy we (Seattle) at one time had the 2-5 hitters. What a team we had

26:24 back when baseball was baseball and even the pitchers rocked a cup.
  • Good thing Cleveland didn't boo Lofton, at least they understood they traded him for Grissom which worked well since Lofton returned the next year.

Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez & Mariano Rivera. What a lineup of legendary pitchers.
  • RIP Tony Gwynn and Ken Caminiti, and Larry Walker should be in the Hall.
  • Of the nine batters in each league's starting line-up, 5 are Hall Of Famers. Both starting pitchers are also in the Hall Of Fame. For us in Puerto Rico this 1997 ASG was one of a kind. We have 5 players with plaques in Cooperstown and three of them, Edgar Martínez, Iván Rodríguez and Roberto Alomar, were part of the AL starting line-up. The winning pitcher José Rosado is puertorrican, as well as the players who produced (drove in &/or scored) all the runs in the game: Javier López (NL) and Edgar hit solo shots, and the game's MVP Sandy Alomar Jr hit another HR with Bernie Williams on base to decide the contest. Unforgettable !!! ⚾

1997 MLB All Star game represents the contribution of Puerto Rico to the American pastime.  All 4 runs of the game, 3 from the American League and 1 from the National League were score and batted in by puertoricans. Also the winning pitcher was from PR. One of the greatest day in the memories of all Puerto Rico baseball players in the history of the game.

😳... Time flies.... Great memories 😎 1997 ASG.

Three teams with some nice uniforms they shouldn't have ditched - Astros, Angels, and Blue Jays. Brewers, not so much.

Man it seems to me Baseball use to be more fun and light hearted back then. Now pitchers get a stick up there butt if you show any emotion about a home run.
  • @mets2128
He did it again! He did it again

Ken Caminiti and Ken Griffey Jr. may have been the last players to wear an alternate jersey in an All-Star Game. It's strictly home white vs. road gray these days.
  • @ikkajaalati
Wow… 2-3-4-5 as A-Rod, Griffey, Tino and Edgar… and then Randy Johnson starting. Imagine if Tino had stayed in Seattle.
