I CAN'T AFFORD LUXURY

2024-09-04に共有
I can’t afford luxury anymore. I have other priorities that are taking presidents at the moment. So where does that leave my YouTube channel? Will I still buy and talk about luxury bags? Will I switch over to contemporary bags instead?

  • I for one am here for WHATEVER content you have to share. Vlogs. Get ready with me. Home renovations. Handbags. WHATEVER. Each of us here are multidimensional. We are wives. Sisters. Friends. Employees. And handbag lovers. It’s perfectly natural to share more than just one thing on this platform. The name of your channel is your name. So it’s anything you feel comfortable sharing. I find that not having kids and my wife and I sharing our household responsibilities makes my handbag addiction slightly easier to manage. But I could probably do a LOT of other stuff with that money too. 😂

I would suggest to get the flooring you really want, and if that takes a bit longer, then it takes a bit longer. Also it’s always worth buying a sample of carpet/tile and putting it in different rooms and seeing how it looks when the light changes in that room, it can change your opinion. Carpet is warmer, deadens sounds more, and you can run a vacuum over it. Tiles can take longer to clean, are cold under the feet, but they can look really good. It was the same for Gwenny, she didn’t want to vlog because her old house wasn’t camera ready, I told her not to worry about things like that. People enjoy seeing other people just being normal and living in a normal way.
  • I will still watch. I think most people purchase handbags at a slower rate than how it appears out here on YouTube, specifically. Nothing wrong with mixing it up. I love handbags but I like to watch other things too.

I've owned 3 houses in the past 20 years and had all 3 built. It's a nice and stressful experience. Especially this one I live in now because I did it alone and they thought they could mess with me cause I'm a single woman. They were wrong 😊 I'll still watch your videos. I like how you are sticking with your priorities 😊
  • @Jploveslv
I save up for anything I want. I never had credit card debt and I only use cards with cash back rewards. I let it build up to $3500 once. That was free money! I bought an LV bag with it.

Vacation is difficult with more than two kids. I have four. Two teenagers and two toddlers. I would rather stay home than take the toddlers anywhere. My teenagers never misbehaved like my younger ones.

Hi Melissa! I really enjoyed this video, and I’m excited to see the new segments you mentioned about adding to your channel. I for one would love to see the home renovation vlogs, I think that would be a lot of fun!
  • @katemiller7874
Very smart Melissa to stay in your home. It’s best for the kids while they are in school. They don’t want to move all the time and have to make new friends. We stayed in our home for 22 years before we moved to a new build the kids were already graduated college.
  • Great video Melissa! Super relatable and appreciate you sharing about personal finance. I'm also middle class, married no kids, and currently share a car with my husband. Really not a big deal since I'm self-employed working at home. Didn't purchase my 1st designer bag until I was in my 40s and we'd paid off all student loans, bought/sold multiple homes, no consumer debt, etc. Still rocking an iPhone 13 Pro that's 3 years old and works just fine. Grew up lower middle class. My parents couldn't afford nice vacations - we just went camping every summer. As an adult, I actually think that helped with my lifestyle expectations. Would love to see more videos like this topic, how you manage as a mother of 6, where you spend vs splurge, best deals for the money, "keeping it real" vlogs and whatnot.
  • Excited for the new direction and whatever else you feel like sharing with us. You always keep it real and I’m here for it!
  • @sashaclark3204
I’m here for all of your content. I love the idea of Vlogs as a wife and working mom living a real life, I think we’d appreciate your floors!!
  • I love your video Melissa. As always, I love how you are always so genuine & candid. I am like you when it comes to replacing electronics, appliances & cars until they no longer work. I just replaced my 10 yr old lap top & it literally gave up on me completely so I had to get a new one since I do use it for work. I also got a new car last year, but it was only because the repairs were already costing us more than getting a new car and my husband and I don’t believe in buying brand new cars either. Cars lose their value as soon as they get out of the dealership so we buy our preowned, but with low milage & good brands that last a long time.
  • @LulaWestLuxe
I’m excited for the future of your channel! I’d love to see more GRWMs, styling videos and home renovations vlogs! ❤ New carpets, upgrading our staircase and new windows are all on my current list. 😬 I’d love to see how you change your home too.
  • I loved this video and hearing more about your life and day to day. I feel like we shift our lives as best as we can. I like to give my sons a trip once per year as their dad hasn’t been able to for several years now. But that trip is going to see a family member or going to CO. It’s commonly a very budget friendly trip. I drive a Honda civic and will drive it until it’s totally paid off. I’m like you, just have house and car debt. Done. ❤
  • @pholtlux_749
I feel the same way that you do. I enjoy luxury but don’t want my purchases to interfere with other priorities in my life, and I often have to save for expensive items. I am definitely here for the handbag content and new content as well!
  • @stinasketch
I would totally love more videos on midsized fashion! I am also a new mom and would really enjoy your vlog content. Just be careful of what you share online for your family’s safety!!
  • @theresapaige678
GREAT topic. One that I don’t see enough. I’m also from a medium income household and had to give up things to be able to buy the luxury I do have. I cannot wait to see your bedroom glow-up, please do vlog it!
  • @SoleilAlexa
I'm doing everything exactly like you guys. And we are saving so much money with these habits. And thats how I can afford nicer bags. But my preference are not the most expensive luxury bags. I get stressed using so expensive bags. Its more carefree for me to buy nice more affordable bags like Mulberry, Coach, Cala Jade, Coccinelle, Tory Burch, Furla. I was embarrassed by my floors also. We just got new floors. We saved up the money in advance. I also sold a bag to make it happen. And they are light neutral wood floors. Wood floors are really common her in Norway. I would be more interested in seeing vlogs rather then videos on bags actually. Would love home renovation vlogs, workout talk vlogs and just day to day vlogs. Loved the video🌸
  • @carrino15
I sold one handbag to buy new bed and stuff for my child. Had a dream about priorities and find pleasure enjoying what i got now. Handbags dont make me much happier as i dont use them much due to lifestyle. I would look for deals, thats it. Also i never use money on nails, hair, spa, car, alcohol, smoke etc...this frees up money for some nice stuff once in a while
  • @fuchsiafloyd
Super smart choices to make the best with your resources. Yes here for all of it!
