Figured Bowser would be the antagonist, but I was NOT expecting him to just straight up be the castle. This will make for an interesting final boss.
  • Gameplay starts at 29:50, for those looking for the time Edit: This comment was made before the wait time was cut out

I love the little co-op improvements here! My kids and I played New Super Mario Bros Deluxe and I always ended up grabbing my daughter's character just to get her through difficult parts of levels, so stuff like the Yoshi mount, shared lives and the ghosts are gonna make this even friendlier for the little ones at home

i love the subtle animations for the enemies and characters! like the koopas getting surprised by the bubble approaching them or mario getting electrocuted. such a big improvement from early 3d mario games like sunshine and galaxy. it really gives the game more personality

Nintendo totally nailed it with this new DIRECT. Hoping this new Super Mario Bros. game inspires the next Super Mario Maker installment.

This is what the 2D Mario series NEEDED. I’m so excited to play this!!

This may be the best Mario game to date. It’s so polished and easy but also I’m sure they have some solid difficulty scales for those hardcore Mario fans. Love it!
  • I love the idea of the badges. Changes up the gameplay, while still keeping it fairly simple and not overwhelming the player with lots of abilities.
  • This feels so fresh. Love the fact that the developers weren't given a timeline for release so they were able to get creative more
  • This probably won't matter to many people, but my dad just watched this whole thing through with a look of wonder on his face because he loves the original Mario games. He's probably played the games bought for me and my siblings more than we did, and he's beaten New Super Mario Brothers Wii and Deluxe more times than I can count. He was asking me questions like "how can I play this?" and "we have a Switch, right?" He says he's gonna buy the game as soon as it comes out. The amazing feeling Mario games give to people truly is wonderful.

A 2D Mario Game with a unique story, gimmick, and visual style plus a decent difficulty curve that likely won’t be boring and generic? It’s a miracle! I’m so excited for this!

Speedruns of this game are going to be INSANE. Well done, Nintendo.

The animation when they are blowing bubbles is so wholesome. ☺

When this game comes out, I’m gonna play with it all day

To have a 2D Mario game with this level of imagination and creativity is amazing. October can’t come any faster.
  • I absolutely LOVE the live player shadows and the fact you can revive each other and share items. It just brings so much more life to the game when your playing alone
  • @RedFireRed
Dude instead of enemy collision, the koopas literally do a friend bump when the touch each other. This is gonna be a big game bro.

2D Mario just had its Odyssey moment.
