  • I think only Greed and Envy are truly terrible places to be. Rest are sins of delusion or indulgence so their demons/Sins represent these aspects. Asmodeus is clearly lustfull, kinky/perv, but not malicious. Bee loves to drink, have big parties, but likely kicks out people who bring bad vibes, so maybe she ignores bad vibes/darker places in her ring too, like Loona's orphanage

I love how just the sheer fact of immortality is one of the biggest punishments of pride. You have to suffer there, and there's almost no escape so you can keep suffering eternally. Except for the one time of year where the chance you die goes up 100% and the subsequent leftover weapons that can lead you to a fate possibly worse than hell except you don't even know what it could be. Plus there'sa giant clock that constantlyupdates how close that day is.That's eternal torment and eternal anxiety rolled into one. There's literally no comfort or security even for the overlords

One thing I like about the hazbin Hotel/ Helluva Boss's petrayal of hell is that it doesn't really have what we normally expect. The suffering, for the most part, isn't things like endless burning or endless torture. Instead, it's simply the worst parts of humanity run rampant. It's like the world Senater Armstrong wanted to create in metal gear. Where you can do anything you want if you have the strength to do it. A world where morality is dead and empathy is for weak, nobody's. A hell for humanity maintained my humanity.

Honestly the concept of the Gluttony Ring being more an extravagant cage went to contain Beelzebub is definitely an interesting concept especially with her part in the circus being “Animal Shows”. If she wasn’t contained and kept calm in her personal paradise she could get irreparable and cause some serious damage
  • @Arkus
I'm not really convinced Bee is dependent on her Beelzejuice or her subjects having a good mood to preent her Monster form. All the Sins have a monster form that they are in full control of and only use when angered. That scene with Bee going beast mode was just her finally losing her patience with Loona's bad attitude.

i think the way envy's people suffer is constantly trying to measure up to others and therefore they constantly feel inadicuate. i imagine envy to be a measuring contest. they would also try sabatoge in order to bring others down to make themselves feel better
  • @KVIA01
Is it possible that the reason Stolas visits the Wrath Ring is because the Goetia actually own all the farmland and the imps are just sharecroppers/serfs? I wouldnt see any other reason for him to bother showing up otherwise.
  • @Raziel312
I think there is a split between the dogma of Lust and how Asmodeous lives his own life. In the "House of Asmodeous" song, Asmodeous heaps mocking praise on Stolas for destroying his marriage and endangering his relationship with his daughter to chase some imp tail. "You sold your life for a thrust. Now THAT'S the essence of lust!!"
  • @Daffodillon
small correction: the lust ring itself doesn't force you (Ozzie is openly against it)
  • Funnily enough you're not the first person I've watched bringing up the fact that the envy ring might be an ocean that only envy demons can live in but that guy added on top of that, that the polution from the greed ring seeping down may have caused envy's ocean to turn toxic/poisonous to its inhabitants which may be the suffering they have hence them being envious of other places to live in a " grass looks greener" type situation
  • @iceypinkrose
I always thought Ozzie made the factory for succubi who don’t want to do s3x work. That way they can make an income without being forced to put their bodies out there.
  • This is just a thought, but what if the ring of sloth also has Lovecraftian influences? A big part of Lovecraft's mythology was the concept of dreams and the dreamlands; which also fits with the lifestyle of the demons from sloth, who seem to sleep/dream almost all the time. Perhaps this also implies that there is some alliance or relationship between the rings of envy and sloth, as they both embody those Lovecraftian elements of the deep sea and dreams.
  • @drugcartel24n7
I think the ring that is least suffering is wrath. most demons in wrath have a good life even they are poor and they even gather every year to do festivals like the moon harvest festival
  • @Terastas
Uh, just a note about wrath and the farming: There is quite literally an entire district in the pride ring where sinners eat each other. Also, the pride ring is the only one that is subject to a yearly culling. The imps of wrath may be the lowest of the natural-born demons, but it's the sinners who are systematically squeezed for all they are worth before being left to die during the purge.
  • Most of the suffering isn’t physical like in Zoophobia. The suffering in Hazbin and Helluva is psychological. Whether it be positive, trauma, or any other stimuli, eventually, you’ll grow desensitized to it all. Soon, you wouldn’t be able to get a kick out of anything. Drugs won’t have an effect on you anymore, sex wouldn’t sound as exciting as you think of it happens so often, your alcohol tolerance would grow too strong, etc. All that, and you’re immortal. Living forever until you can’t feel anything anymore. At that point, you either willingly give yourself up to the extermination to end it all, or your fear of permanent death takes over and you continue to suffer, unable to go through with ending your life to escape it all. That is the true effect of this version of Hell.
  • @Bandersnatch41
I would say to some extent. I think the Pride Ring is based on the movie Escape from New York. Just one giant city prison that nobody is allowed to leave from but all manner of sin is allowed to happen.
  • The Envy Ring? One sentence to sum it up. If you know, you know. "Karens and lots of them." I also just realized something; The Pride Ring sounds a LOT like the Pre Fall Eldar worlds from Warhammer 40,000.
  • You know, it would be wild if Belfagor wasn't even running the Sloth ring themselves.

I'm starting to wonder if anyone really lives in Gluttony at all. It might be a vacation and/or party spot but I get the feeling that no one, other than Bee, lives there. While Bee may be in charge of Hellhound adoptions, I get the feeling that none of the centers are in Gluttony, if what Loona saying in episode 8 says that she's never been in Bee's home and if that applies to Gluttony as a whole. At the same time, are there any other parties in Gluttony aside from the ones that Bee runs herself? While she may be the best partier in all of Gluttony, i wonder if she even allows or has other places for parties that she doesn't run that may or may not contribute to her Beelzejuice, or any other products that she may have. Part of me thinks that a she's a hands off type of leader in a sense that she lets others do whatever they want in Gluttony without really knowing the details so long as it does not directly impact her mood.
