My first Total Solar Eclipse (and probably only) experience was back in July 10, 1972. They put us all in the gymnasium of my Elementary School and had us watch it on the giant projector, meanwhile we could see everything going dark outside thru the giant stained-glass windows of the gym. Not the ultimate experience but at least we were safe from risk of blindness.

"3 Minutes... that's it! I'm going back to sleep." LOL, I got to see the 2017 full solar eclipse. It was during summer and was amazing. The bugs were making bedtime noise, and the birds were settling down for nighttime during the eclipse. It even got cooler.

oh, i must have missed it. i have heard. but it wasn't too hyped. besides i remember April 8th was quite cloudy from where i am. So there wasn't much to expect from it.
