Backyard Bass Pond - Tagging the Bass

Published 2024-03-10
Largemouth and Smallmouth bass are caught from the backyard pond and tagged with a tag gun. We attempt to catch the bass and tag them with a numbered ID tag for future documentation. Fish Tag for Identification. Fish are measured in length and weighed as an introductory record check. The fish are feeding on minnows and have been eating well, so it takes some work to catch them for the tagging gun. Once fish are numbered and weights taken, they are released back to the pond in order to be fed heavily to push the fish weights higher. Largemouth and Smallmouth pond bass.

Would love to see a small feeder on the pond to really bulk up those bait fish which will help bulk up the bass as they eat them

Entertaining as always. Good luck with the tagging and the topping up of your fish school.

Also, look up “relative weight” for smallmouth bass and that’ll let you know exactly how healthy your fish are.

Can you share where you get your tags? What company makes them?
