  • It wasn't unpredictable. I live up north and felt urgency with this one
  • Before the storm hit residents were telling reporters that they weren’t leaving and would ride out the storm. Obviously many just were stubborn and did not want to leave no matter what.

I used to live in Florida. Many people don't take the hurricane news seriously when they say to evacuate, because the majority of people there have been through a lot of hurricanes, including myself, and the news in the past has often made it sound worse than it would be. A lot of people have hurricane parties, since schools and businesses often close for stronger category hurricanes. I Hope this changes in the future so more lives are not lost.

Stop rebuilding in these flood zones. Nobody wants to insure these properties anymore but people keep moving to Florida

I lived in Florida for 30 years. I never understood why people chose to stay first of all. I don't own a damn thing that is worth my life. Then the guy that said they didn't have enough time to gather their 'stuff'. No... leave your stupid stuff... get in your damn car and LEAVE.

My heart breaks for all Charlotte and Lee county residents. This is just devastating. I live in Tampa and we left 5 days before expected land fall. We went through Irma because we waited too long before deciding to leave. By then, it was too late, we had to ride it out. Don't wait, decide early!
  • All these islands are eventually going to be under ocean water, and you think they should let people still rebuild? Why?

Made the choice to leave St. Pete late Monday night. This was clearly going to be a powerful and unpredictable storm, but state and local governments did a superb job in handling it all. Anyone who didn't leave the barrier islands or any coastal area didn't use their common sense on this one. Doesn't mean I don't have compassion for them.

Living in FL during hurricane season is difficult. We've had storms where we've evacuated Miami just for it to change course and head right to where we went. We've stayed and had storms that werent intended for our path come our way. Our family has just adopted the practice of leaving as soon as a big storm is in the Caribbean & heading our way. Its stressful and expensive. Prayers for the families that lost loved ones.

I live in Florida. still no power and water but I feel lucky. Only lost a shed and few roof shingles. My neighbor is still flooded
  • These people (wealthy people) are going to rebuild on the beach and cause us responsible people inland to have to pat astronomical insurance premiums.

My condolences to the families of the loss of loved ones and to the people who lost their homes and belongings
  • If it's a Hurricane 🌀 coming at you..........Leave that area as soon as possible! Surely, people have learned that after all these years in Florida.

I saw many residents braving the hurricane and ignoring calls from the government to go to shelters, I knew that the loss of life would be great.

I live right here in Hurricane Alley in the Panhandle we are very fortunate that it did not come this way but my Lord I leave when there's a hurricane coming why not just leave why sit there and deal with the trauma of watching your whole neighborhood destroyed your home being destroyed and possibly you and your family dying just leave Drive 2 hours away stay in a hotel overnight or go to a friend's house. A lot of people moved down south Florida during the pandemic and have now lost everything .

I live in Ft Myers. The things I have seen will forever leave a mark on my soul. Absolute devastation and sadness.
  • @SnowWalker1
So sad for the loss of life and also for all the poor little doggies and kitties as well 😢
  • @qwerty-vp1sb
Your houses should be concrete if u live in hurricane areas
  • No point in pointing fingers. Right now the focus is in recovery, clean up and reconstruction. Later comes lessons learned. That's all there is to do. Stay strong Florida 💪☀️
  • @realsmollbean
And yet more and more people still move to Florida every year 😒
