Leftists in France have been rejoicing after a hastily assembled alliance scored a surprise win in the second and final round of parliamentary elections. The New Popular Front succeeded in its goal of preventing the far right from gaining power - with the National Rally forced into third place. President Emmanuel Macron's centrist coalition came second. But with no group gaining an absolute majority, France could potentially face years of political instability.

Was not a surprise, this normally happens during the second round voting. The far left despise Macron, to!

Well it doesnt mean the right wing isnt on the rise just because they came 3rd
  • In the first round French gave LR over 50% win = over 289 representatives. In the second round French gave LR win of 143 representatives (still higher than any other single party). Only loosers are some disshonest people that call LR „far right“ but not „right“.

a hastily put together coalition will not last, too many cracks.

The public voted against the far right party and decided on the party that will make positive changes. As usual if the party in power fails to produce results they are voted out. Democracy works.
  • the French Left and Centre need to be careful. The right have not been defeated yet. The Left and Centre may have won this battle - but if they're not careful they might lose the war.
