It amazes me how at our core we’re just a collection of different chemical processes that all come together to be aware

My guess is that consciousness formed as an improved feedback system. It is a lot easier for an organism to approach or avoid certain circumstances if it has tools that span beyond that of automatic processes. The ability to think and reason does a lot to help ensure the survival and quality of life of an individual. It also helps one make sense of the environment around oneself rather than just existing and relying on automatic functions

This just made me miss raising chickens. I had six laying hens, and one female turkey who laid half the year. I was also gardening veggies. I miss my little urban farm... But chickens awareness really astounded me!
