Since winning the National title in 1980, Georgia Football has spent decades attempting to get back to the top. While they had many close opportunities, the team continuously fell short of the ultimate goal of being the #1 team in the country at the end of the year. But, over the past two seasons, Kirby Smart, the players, and the rest of the staff helped to change all of that, and after coming up short so often, the school has won back to back National Championships with convincing seasons. So, how did the program finally get over the hump and become a special part of college football history? This, is the Rise of Georgia Football

Will Georgia win their third National Championship in a row this season?

Hindsight is always 20/20… I’m glad we didn’t win in 2012… Richt might still be here and Kirby would be coaching somewhere else. Everything happens for a reason. Look at us now

It’s safe to say the natty vs tcu was over in the first quarter

As an FSU fan, that 2022 uga defense was so fun to watch

Corrections: Georgia had a Heisman winner before Herschel. Frank Sinkwich. Also, it’s Donnan, not Donan

Grew up watching Them Dawgs (since 04 im not that old lol) Its great to be a Georgia Bulldog.. but it always wasn’t. After years and years of failure we've finally done it. I love Kirby Smart but Coach Mark Richt will always be "Coach" to me. I've always loved the team, and i love where we're headed, but sometimes i like to watch old games and reminisce about the old days of being down in the 4th trying to win or trying to hold off an opponent to win. And i miss seeing Coach Mark Richt on the sideline. I guess in a weird way, im not used to winning and im not used to not being nervous about games anymore lol. Glory, glory to old Georgia. Go Dawgs!

My dad has been a georgia fan all of his life. Same for me of course. But he was 11 years old when they won the 1980 national championship and i know it was a long time but it was so great for me to see the Dawgs win another not one but two for him to see it. And I hope we can win many more. Go Dawgs!

Frank Sinkwich won the Hesiman at UGA in 1942. He, not Herschel Walker, was the first Georgia player to win the trophy.
  • Obviously, they beat perennial powerhouse TCU to extend their streak to two.
