In January 2018, Jordan Turpin, the 17 year old daughter of David and Louise Turpin, frantically climbed out of a window at their home. Having escaped, she accused her parents of mistreating both her and her 12 siblings for years. The facts of the case came to light and the macabre scenes later found at the Turpin home shocked American authorities.

David and Louise Turpin had imprisoned their 13 children for years. During this time, none of the couple's neighbours could have imagined what had been happening in their family home. It was the astute attitude of daughter number 8, 17 years old, that completely changed the lives of her 12 siblings. Today's case will talk about what became known by the media as The House of Horrors. This is the bizarre story of Turpin Family.

They say they had good intentions. However, when they opened the door to the police- it was all over their faces that they KNEW what they were doing was awful, and they were about to be found out. I have no sympathy for those people.

Listening to the statement of the kids defending these monsters is probably the most heartbreaking thing about this. The state also failing these children after they escaped these monsters and placed them with more monsters is one of the most disgusting things I couldā€™ve ever imagined happening to them. Just a complete and utter failure of just about everyone involved. I hope these children and those who are now adults never go through anything remotely close this ever again and enjoy happy, successful, and fulfilling lives.

If I were a defence attorney helping to draft the statements of these horrible people, I'd avoid lines like 'I'm sorry if I caused them harm'.

Seems that several of the Turpin children were also subsequently abused in foster care brought on by and incompetent bureaucratic system, please do a subsequent video on what has transpired until now in 2024.

These kids are far better than I am. I would go full no contact. There would be no forgiveness.

I am a father and this disgusts me how can people do this to children.

The mother was groomed at age of 14. So were the kids. This is so sad.
  • It's horrible that the abuse for some of the children continued after they were removed. I try to imagine what it would have been like to be one of the proper foster parents. I understand why many of the siblings were put in the same home, but picturing the extensive and intensive care each and every child needed would require 24/7 love, patience and care, physically, and mentally as well as teaching the basics activities of daily living, and the basics of education. Some of these precious children may never develop complete life skills and may require fostering for life. The dedication required takes an amazing amount of patience, understanding and the highest degree of parenting skills, not to mention, health care and social services for things like counseling, tutoring, and even assistance to the foster parents by way of other professional services in the home. The needs of these children were enormous. They never had the basics like hair cuts, health, dental, vision care, the things that are provided by parents as needed over the years of childhood, these children needed all at once. Imagine how overwhelming for the children and their new care givers. Although it's my understanding some of the fosters did not live up the task and were less than qualified, and a few children continued to suffer abuse in foster care, I pray those children were eventually put in capable hands. I imagine some children are still together, perhaps even reunited with older siblings. Follow up stories (while keeping their names anonymous) would be good to know. I doubt I would have been qualified to take 3 of these precious children, but I would certainly be qualified to volunteer to assist with whatever the foster parents needed help with, such as respite, errands, Housekeeping and educational tutoring, hygiene help etc. I try to imagine what an enormous task and act of love fostering 3 children from this family would have been like.

Jordan is so strong and brave. I donā€™t think I could ever do all that if I was in that situation, at least not without crying. I hope she and her siblings are doing much better now ā¤
  • The difference in Louise and David's statements is so glaringly obvious. David saying, "I'm sorry IF I caused any harm" compared to Louise's "I'm so sorry for EVERYTHING I put you all through AND everything I did to you". I mean, I really don't think much of either parent, but at least Louise came across as "genuine". I'm just gobsmacked at how forgiving those children were in their statements towards their parents, but noticed that they were mainly speaking in regards to their mother. I'm glad that the children have gone on to have better lives, with the exception of some being put into another abusive situation - thanks to the agency that was supposed to be making sure that it wouldn't be repeated. I wish all the children the best that life has to offer. As for David and Louise? There's a special place in Hell for people just like them.

The parents say they're 'sorry' for everything. By sorry, I'm very sure they meant sorry they got caught. They're not sorry for what they had done. They been doing this for 29 years. If they were sorry, they learn to wear some protection than to have them deal with this nightmare. Also if I somehow have the money to adopt all these children, I be glad to meet them in person. And tell them the words that'll drill them in their heads forever; "You will never see your childrens ever again."
  • Honestly wtf is up with the statements of the parents at the end? They love their children but abused them for 29 years? Thatā€™s so sick and twisted. I canā€™t comprehend how people can be so fake and toxic
  • God Bless these 13 INNOCENT children These "parents" were Monster the 2 oldest girls can never have children because they lost ovarian function? I grew up in a small town and I promise you, people are not welcoming to outsiders lol

At 42:11, it was so beautiful that even though "John Doe" had been through suffering and seen his family suffering, his heart remained at peace, and he put his trust in God. He seemed so forgiving! It is outstanding that his horrible parents did not give a horrible outlook on his faith (which happens often enough in homes that aren't necessarily abusive). I respect that, and I don't know if I could do the same in that situation.
  • @ItsPunnk_
This is so sad I can't imagine what these kids gone through
  • @sandiegan3788
$150,000/yr and the children were only fed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?
  • The fact that seven of the kids were legally adults, mentally not, but legally yes. One of the kids abused for 29 YEARS. God does not want you to abuse your children.
  • @ThePoobears
you love your children so much love is not what you had done to those poor kids ( adults) you were never a mother father you were slave drivers and monsters towards them you don't even know love is they should be ashamed of yourselves as parents
