In this video tutorial I teach you a basic water bath canning recipe for making low sugar blueberry jam. The trick to making this low sugar recipe is in the pectin I use. Pomona's Universal Pectin is amazing! It's a gluten free and vegan pectin. It's jelling power is activated by calcium instead of massive amounts of sugar. This recipe is for a small batch of jam- 5 half pint canning jars. This recipe would be great for a canning newbie! It's easy and straight forward and most of all delicious and healthier than most other jam alternatives out there!

My kids and I picked organic blueberries at a local u-pick farm up the road from us. Do some research and see if you have any u-picks in your area! Check them out and make your own homemade natch of low sugar jam.

I am a seventy year old "backyard" farmer (smiles) with diabetes, a cancer survivor, and a stroke survivor.  Young lady you have taught me something today. I am going to try this for my peppers and anything else I can get my hands on to stay healthy and still eat.  Keep up the good work!!!!!!   This is great information!!!!

So excited to find your canning video! We just started canning and haven't been able to find many low/no sugar jam recipes, which our diet requires, so this is totally awesome! Hope you do more canning videos, it was really helpful!

An excellent presentation! Very informative. Clear and not silly. Thanks for taking the time.

A good way to check that your jam is ready to set is to put about a teaspoon of jam onto a cold plate and let it cool and set for a minute. Once the minute's up, push your finger through the jam. If the skin of the jam wrinkles in front of your finger, it's going to set well in the jars.

Thanks for this tutorial. We've had an awesome blueberry harvest this year and they are still coming on. I've frozen enough for this year and plan to dehydrate some but I really like this low sugar recipe. Thanks a bunch.

I made excellent blueberry-raspberry jam using your recipe! Much better than my last batch following the other guy. Your video was well organized. It relayed all the small steps and tips & tricks. And you communicated everything in a clear and efficient way. All around great service! Im now a subscriber and enjoying other equally clear and fun tutorials.

Thank you! I really love this video. I used to live in the country when growing up. My mother, grandmother, and sisters would can various fruits and vegtables. We actually had a lot of fun. Your video brought back those memories. I especially like how you tell us what kind of pectin and sugar to use to make it extra healthy.
