The doctrine of Christ (Christology) can be seen in the Person of Christ and the work of Christ. The former as revealed in Scripture, can be seen in Jesus’ deity, humanity, unity and the virgin birth. The latter tells us more about the atonement: Why did Christ have to die? What can we learn about the cause and nature of the atonement? Here, we also learn more about the absolutely unique difference between Christianity and all other beliefs and faiths, namely the significance of Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven. Our understanding of Jesus Christ is critical for coming to saving faith in and through Him. It is here that we learn how the entire Bible (OT and NT) point to Christ. Christ has given us His Word (Scripture) and is the Word (John 1:1).
