About 12 years ago my husband installed solar panels on our house. We live in Hawaii, electricity is very expensive, we used to pay $600.00 to $650.00 a month. We also have net metering. We make more power than we use. So our electric bill is about $19.00 a month, that is the minimum to be connected to the net. I bought a model 3 almost 2 years ago and only charge it at home. So far we are still paying the minimum. my old car used premium fuel, and my monthly gas bill used to be about $350.00. I don't understand all the tech, but I think it's been the best investment we made.Love your videos i'm still not used to auto pilot, but your videos help.Thank You

In SD our EV Time Of Use plan makes it beneficial to send the energy back during day and charge M3 at night. It also gives some ROI to the power walls as we run off the batteries during the peak rates. It sounds like your electricity is much cheaper than ours.

This is very good information. Taking notes on doing a solar setup in the future. I live in Texas and with the recent power outages after the polar vortex, not relying on electric companies is crucial.

Can you tell us how many solar panels you needed just for the Model 3 and what kind of battery bank you got? Maybe some kind of spec of your system would be helpful.
