Using an '80s Computer with Built-in AI: The Sega AI Computer

Published 2024-05-29
In this video, I use the Sega AI Computer, one of the least known and rarest pieces produced by Sega. This 1980s computer, utilizing the Prolog AI programming language, enabled user interaction in a way that, while much simpler than ChatGPT, was extraordinary for its time. It represented a significant step forward towards the advanced technologies we have today

What a great project. I thought I knew all the old systems, being an old guy who was a computer geek in the 80's, but you found one I have never heard of. Well done.
  • You have a bright future in the retro community, I pride myself on knowing most obscure systems and I love SEGA, A LOT. DIdn't even know this system existed, thanks to you I love SEGA even more now. 😁Thank you so much, awesome presentation!

Japanese computers from this era have always fascinated me to no end as an American. They had an honest to goodness tech lead in personal computing for almost ten years, it's like something out of a game of Civilization. Given the size of this machine, it really boggles the mind that this was a consumer product in the same year I was born.

It's funny to see how all the cool and technological things from today started 35+ years ago. Yes, now they are polished and brought to their peak, but the ideas themselves are many years old. Again a great video and again a great t-shirt!

Very interesting to see what each country was doing in terms of technology advancement. I wonder what life would be like had this gotten popular enough to export to consumers around the world. Please keep making videos
  • Never knew about this device! The one you tested is in amazing condition.

These past few months, I've started to teach myself Japanese after many years of wanting to learn. What a coincidence you feature this system. I think it would help me!
