Thomas Cargo Raceway Set TM2 Vs TM-AEG Mystery & Toy Hunting Thomas Wooden Railway 😡 FRUSTRATING 😡

I go on a toy hunting search in Sydney looking for the new style Thomas Wooden Railway toys in two of the major toy & hobby stores. Both these stores use to have an amazing range of Thomas & Friends stock, trains, playsets whatever. But it seems we now live in very different times. At one store I noticed a new Thomas All Engines Go motorised playset that looks awesome. It's the Thomas & Kana Cargo Race, big playset with a big price of $200. These is no way I would pay that for this playset. When I got home I had a look at a Thomas Trackmaster 2 playset I purchased 18 months earlier and it looks like the exact same set but it's half the price. It is called Thomas and Percy Cargo Race. When I started to investigate how one set has over 90 pieces yet the other only has 75 pieces yet the two playsets look identical it blew up my mind. One thing that is being exposed is the huge price jump in the Thomas toys in Australian retailers. A playset like this in my mind is only worth $100 and not a cent more. I'm pretty sure in the USA these playsets are sold for $60 USD to $80 USD.

Anyway while I was in the beautiful empty toy department I did stumble upon an incredible Hot Wheels Mario Kart playset. It's called the Mario Kart Rainbow Road. It's BIG, it's COLOURFUL and it's shouting out AWESOME. This set had no batteries installed but I could see it was quite tricky, a very clever random element is set up on part of the track that ensures the winner will be as chaotic as the real Mario Kart game. There was a Mario & Luigi Kart there and I had a 'secret play'. From that I worked out this is a absolute buy. It's just so sad I can't do detailed toy reviews as I use to do on YouTube, the busted AI here has destroyed my channel. If a video has any elements that is seen as entertaining kids I get smacked down, the video will die and it's impossible it earn back the cost of the toy via the video. In fact it's impossible to do that on anything now.

I do wonder why is a major toy company having so much trouble supplying the premium new Thomas Wooden Railway toys. You can't make a cent when you can't supply the product. Or is the choke point the retail buyers who are being very selective in what's seen in store.

While I was roaming around Hobbyco in Sydney I did notice some really cool model railways stuff. Of course I take a closer look.

    I actually have the original version of this set, it’s full of good elevation pieces, and is overall a pretty fun set. Personally, I prefer the original version, mainly because of the color palette. There’s quite a few AEG sets that are just color palette swaps of sets from right before the rebrand.

    Hi Leo, I just revisited your mad bomber episode from a couple of years ago. I have fond memories of watching it when I was younger, being mostly drawn to the Thomas aspect of the video. I’m now able to appreciate the humor, since I am older and understand it now. Your videos where you would make custom toys was always entertaining to watch too. Thanks for making great videos!

    I know I'm commenting on this way too late, but it doesn't seem like someone has answered this yet. I think what they've done with the AEG raceway set is that they've removed all the pieces that let you build extra layouts from the original TM2 set, since the AEG set only advertises the one layout on the box.

    Sadly this was the Last Video Teddy appeared in before he Passed Away from being hit by a car and sadly died from his injuries.

    It would be better if the track ended with a switch on each side so the trains could both go in a perfect loop if you operated the switch correctly.

    what gets really annoying about the new trackmaster AEG engines is that not only can they not work with older elevated sets, they cant even work with their own. sets that have a bridge that the engines can go under like the crystal cave set just dont work, thomas will knock the bridge off or just not go through.
