  • What a rollingstock step-up from when i last saw the VGR! Congratulations to all associated with it. Beautifully filmed, too.
  • Stroke of genius including the action shot of the lever frame.....Loved it.

Great video Colin, great to see a video of 157 out for a run. It will be great when they repaint it eventually. They have certainly done a great job repainting the carriages lately.
  • As a junior safe-working station assistant in Sydney in the 80's it was my job to emery the levers at whatever box I was rostered on to that night, some of the bigger boxes like Homebush and Strathfield, Hornsby or Penrith took all night.. & the senior wouldn't let you clock off until he was satisfied they were all to his standards...
  • I have fond memories of Maldon in the late 1960's when my mother and I used to go by train there from Castlemaine to visit friends. Decent load of those old heritage carriages for the little "Y" class to haul, I wonder what the total tonnage was? I went to school with Doug Boal, his dad used to work in the Castlemaine signal box on the platform. I wonder if the old Midland Private Hotel is still across the station? Thanks for the memories!
  • The little Y classes still do a great job, probably would have been a bit challenging with this load. I see a lot of these vintage carriages of this era had tri- axel bogey’s, never really had a satisfactory explanation. Maybe to reduce axel load on some of these lightly laid rural line or perhaps give a better ride. Any thoughts.🇦🇺
  • The Y class locomotive has tait motors from the old red trains
