The all new 2024 Toyota Tacoma has been one of the most anticipated vehicles of the year, and at Destination Outdoor I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road trim, which gets WAY cooler for the 2024 model year. The Tacoma TRD Off-road Toyota had on display came with the iForce Max engine and was mostly loaded, but we won't know Toyota Tacoma trim breakdowns for a bit longer. Even so, there was an impressive amount of off-road kit on the new Toyota Tacoma, including Bilstein shocks, multi-terrain select, crawl control, rear locking diff, and a disconnecting front sway bar. The new Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road felt more like a successor to the current gen Tacoma TRD Pro, which allows the the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro to move upmarket both in capability and price... and of course there's the new Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter trim at the top, which who knows how expensive that will be. From the front seat, the new Toyota Tacoma feels like a big step forward. It's much more comfortable and modern than the current Toyota Tacoma. The only real limitation is in the back seat where it feels as though there isn't really any more space at all... especially for us tall people. Still, the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma is pretty fantastic, it looks awesome in Solar Octane, and it boasts even more capability in TRD Off-road trim. I'll call that a win overall. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we get behind the wheel. Driving impressions coming soon!

465 lb ft of torque. For perspective, the 3UR (5.7) V8 in the last gen Tundra makes 402 lb ft. It always felt like it had plenty of power. This Tacoma is going to have some performance.

Thought the hybrid iForceMax only offers in the limited, pro and trail editions? Thanks for your honest review. Most YouTubers either hype up about the rear seat legroom or ignore it.

Even supercharged, the current V6 Tacomas are lacking in the torque department. I am pushing close to 400lb/ft torque(crank) on my 4,900lb second gen and it's just enough to be quick. 465lb/ft low end from a hybrid turbo on the new Tacos is gonna be awesome! These trucks definitely need the extra torque. Can't wait to see what tuners are gonna do with these.

Great review. Informative. I am impressed. I plan to buy at the end of 2024. I tow a 2900 lb Casita and haul camping gear. Does “that specific truck” have 1705 lbs of payload or is that the max for a properly configured Tacoma? The previous gen Tacoma was weak on payload.

Its hard to not get distracted by that sick looking GX550 in the background.

I'm surprised at your height you don't have an issue with the sunroof. I'm 6'3'' and always have issues with sunroofs unless I have the seat all the way down. Still prefer one without one even if I fit. Thanks for the review.

Most underrated reviewer on YouTube. Now let me be narcissistic for a moment. I won't buy an oversized full-size that won't fit in my garage well. I currently have a 2023 Colorado Trail Boss. It has been a great truck. Pulls the 5000lb boat great. Fits me at 6'2" and sub 5'6" wife and kids fine. Zero problems. The only thing having me consider something else is I have gotten 14 mpg over ten thousand miles and I see myself as more of a Toyota(and/o rBMW/MB) guy then Chevy. What do you think of this (or Land Cruiser) vs the Colorado? Am I buying dumb looking at getting rid of my paid off truck and likely having some payments again? (get a newer boat as current one is 7 years old)

I want to know if you can get the wheels without that chrome trim, if you can opt out of the auto tailgate, and if you can opt out if the pneumatic seats for the TRD pro and get regular seats with the same red camo pattern and material? Any info you could relay would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Jax - Did you ask if you will be able to get stripped TRD Off-Road with I-Max Hybrid or will you have to add the premium package?
  • What do you think? 45k for that with the I force max? With the limited, trail hunter and pro trims above that I can't see it being much more.

I understand they are using the goofy front air dam to meet mpg ratings, but it’s still hideous. They could attach a sharp edge to bottom and use the truck to mow that field. I have yet to see the TRD Off road with a 6’ bed. I hope it’s offered in that configuration. The Toyota website doesn’t show that is will be. Nice overview.
  • @Hebets_Arts
are moonroofs standard on the TRD's models or is it just part of a premium packoge?
  • @thestig007
Not a fan of that big air dam up front. That would come off day 1 for me.
  • I rather have trucky old than trucky expensive. If the Tacoma creeps into full size territory, then I will wait for the Ramcharger 1500.
  • @lowrider0two
Man there so much hate here. Funny how it's by far best selling truck in this size.

Cool rig ,love that color :hand-orange-covering-eyes:
