If I had a nickel for every tumblr animation scam based on a popular text post I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice.

The image of a few teenagers asking for a paltry $600 to buy a camera and make a small series is very cute. Them getting 10x their pledge goal and not having a bank account to hold it in is just adorable. I love this story. I think if they had said up front they were amateurs, people might have still donated to help some artsy kids and wouldn't have hounded them for the nothingburger it turned out to be. Their trusted adult draining that entire $6000 without consulting them and probably never paying them back, leaving them to deal with the backlash? Yeah that's unbelievably messed up.

The premise of "All or Nothing" probably would have worked better as a web comic.

I feel like Friends was pitched at “straight people are roommates” and it got 9 seasons

If the story about the loss of funds is true, I wonder which option is worse: - the person didn't know about the campaign and thought these 6000dollars were the kid's personal earnings/savings and willingly stole from a child - the person knew about the campaign and willingly stole from a LOT of strangers and left a child to deal with the consequences. Either way: yikes.

I feel kinda bad for the original person tbh. Like i thought she just took the money and ran. But a family member they trusted just stole it all. That must have been so horrible for them.

i feel so old watching all of these videos. at age 14 i donated $1 to the all or nothing campaign. $1 was all it cost me to be forever cemented in a part of history

My roommate is very asexual and I’m polyamorous and she’s the one who calls companies because I’m too socially anxious. Dreams do come true, folks.

The one tumblr post show concept that I’m sad never happened was a post (i can’t quote it directly) that was like “four roomates on earth are each secretly aliens who are pretending to be human to observe our customs but none of them know that the others are also aliens” and idk. that one just stuck out to me. reminds me of the classic “humans are space orcs” posts, which are personally my comfort posts
