  • joe gibbs 3 super bowls wins as a coach with 3 different quarterbacks. not only that 3 non hall of fame quarterbacks. we are not seeing that again in our lifetimes. most underrated coach of all time

91’ Skins was recently listed as the greatest team of all time. Had to come back and refresh my brain of our glory.
  • Nowadays if a team is down 27 and cuts it to 13 with four minutes left like the Bills did here it would still be considered a game, but Buffalo was so beaten down and exhausted by the time they scored their final touchdown, even though they technically still had a good amount of time to go, there was just no chance they could come back any more. The physicality of a game was just different then.
  • It always bothered me that Monk never got his Superbowl touchdown. A good call on the Reversal for sure, but if anyone deserved to score a TD it was Art Monk. My favorite Redskin of all time.

I have been a Washington fan for 45yrs and watching this game give me goose bumps because this is what our franchise is supposed to be a hard nosed football team an our owner has ruined it and has done nothing with the franchise since he bought it 20yrs ago an I just wish we could get back to playing Washington football because I'm getting tired of getting disappointed every year and the defense in this game was relentless and that's Washington football and looking at this game is just a reminder how dominant we were in the 80's and early 90's and we need to get back to that ASAP...Ijs

Glad to see Ernest Byner score a TD and get a Super Bowl Ring. Must have been sweet for him after Cleveland.

This is a seriously intense game. Every hit by the Redskins is coming from someone leaping or running towards and knocking the shit out of them
  • I remember drinking champagne outside my college apartment with my roommate after this game. We then bounced around from party to party singing the Fight Song. What a night. A couple of weeks later I met my wife and the team has been terrible ever since...
  • Wow the redskins looked good. And my gosh Rypien slung that ball. One thing I’ve noticed is how many things this game that would’ve been a holding or a PI or a late hit or roughing the passer.
  • People make fun of and focus on the 4 losses in the Super Bowl for Buffalo but look at who they played. This Redskins team was objectively one of the best in history. The Cowboys were a dominant dynasty that almost won 4 titles in a row. The “worst” team they faced was the Giants in their first attempt. Those Giants had a great running game, a HOF all time great head coach, and oh yeah, the greatest defensive player to ever play football. Buffalo still game within a missed reasonable field goal of winning that one, too. The Super Bowl hangover is real. Especially for the team that lost. Buffalo was able to regroup after playing 3 or 4 extra games and suffering extreme disappointment 3 years in a row. The NFC won the Super Bowl 13 years in a row. Most of them were by 2, 3, 4, or even 5 touchdowns. They were 1 of 2 AFC teams to keep it within single digits and obviously came the closest to snapping the losing streak.
  • Can we please change the name back to the Redskins??? This is coming from a Cowboys fan!!

One of, if not the best team in history. They thoroughly dominated the entire year.
  • The disparity between the NFC and the AFC (in that era) was never more apparent than in this game. The Bills in 91 were an absolute phenomenon in the AFC, and when it came time to play the best of the NFC, their offense was completely pushed around like little children (until Washington went into a shell defense late).
  • The Redskins defense applied physical and psychological warfare on the Bills' high octane offense in this game. Whether their receivers caught the ball or not they were punished with crushing hits by the corners and safety. Jim Kelly was getting hammered in the pocket. By the third quarter Kelly was seeing stars and his receivers were alligator-arming passes thinking more about the hit coming than catching the ball 😂 That kind of defense would never be allowed today.
  • I remember watching this game and watching Marv Levy yell 'You guys got paid!' at the refs as the players were running off the field at the end of the first half.....
  • @Madstsone
I remember thinking the Redskins were in trouble after all those red zone mistakes in the first quarter. Turns out it didn't matter.
  • If Washington can do this to a Bills team of future HOF’ers, god only knows how Denver might have fared if Treadwell made any of those 3 FG’s in the AFC title game.
  • “The 1991 Redskins were understated, but overwhelming.” -Donald Sutherland narrating America’s Game documentary
