Garden Tour - Quarter Acre Food Forest 1 Year Update

Publicado 2023-08-28
Hello there and welcome to the Forever Food Forest garden tour. I’m Christina and this is Forever Food Forest, a channel dedicated to my journey of trying to grow food here in zone 9b in Florida. I don’t use pesticides, herbicides or commercial fertilizers. I’m trying to do all this using Permaculture principles and natural gardening techniques. This is a one year update since I started growing food on this property and it highlight the challenges faced and what we have done to over come them.

  • Growing our own food and making our own way to building our garden is amazing! There is no reason to buy “everything” from the big box stores. Keep your eyes on the goal and don’t let anyone sway you from your path.

Great video, thanks! We need to keep spreading the excitement and ambition of growing our own fresh produce in a food forest! That's what I'm doing now in the Midwest.

One thing is for sure, you've figured out how to beat the YouTube algorithm, congratulations! 10K subs with 8 videos!!!

Just harvested some 6ft mullein spikes yesterday...I bet there are 50k seeds from just 2. Am going to plant at woods edge. Good for lungs and catching fish if the SHTF. Upper E TN on edge of old growth beech/oak/maple forest...Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett walked thru here. Old part o'r the world. Great transformation of your yard!
  • Hey to make watering easier, get those barrels off the ground. The higher the barrel the higher the water pressure. Get them higher and you can then use a hose. Also, stack them and run one into the other. Double the water pressure doing that alone.

I love “shopping” in other people’s trash piles. I also trade plants/seeds with coworkers and at local Take A Plant/Leave A Plant stands around Brevard County (we have several). I also propagate everything in my yard. Free is best. 🌱😋

You're doing well. I am a retired city boy living in 9a Florida. Inherited a mature loquat, then bought banana then sheet mulched 1200 sq ft front lawn then added papaya fig guava plum nectarine tangelo meyer lemon and mulberry.

Omg! You are awesome! Thank you for being real and not a glamor show! Btw your garden is beautiful! So many channels have such manicured gardens that are just not realistic, especially when you are planting and organizing your planting sessions for what is truly best for the nature of where you are living❤! Keep on keeping it real! Its refreshing!🎉

@1:20, making soil is one of my favorite things. I love turning lawn clippings into garden soil.

I just want to thank you and encourage you with your channel. I live in 9b as well in Texas and I am wanting to grow plants without any chemicals. I have a composter and I have my garden beds and just starting since I just moved here. I am so happy I can grow year around here! I'm so excited!

    Это отлично! Спасибо за поделку
  • Your great ! And dang I love the banana tree ! Not here out side thats for sure, bc Canada. If you can get strong lumber. Build a stand get the bucket barrel up say 3 feet, it will give you more pressure and with a tap that can hook up a hose will make watering way easier. What a cool place to live so different from here. Funny I spoke to soon. Often do that.
