You cab obtain a barrier block with two methods. The first is a 'transmutation' (JKM's method of obtaining illegal blocks). But the second is funnier and harder. In 20w16a (Java 1.16 snapshot) in one of the lava pulls in every (?) Treasure Bastion (the proof is MC-178797 bug). To obtain this in survival without cheats, you need to surround the barrier with bottom slabs, place right next to it the dispenser, convert this chunk into 1blockAtATime April Fools' version, break the barrier by hands (yeah, it's possible) and, finally, put it on your head. When you convert yourself to another world with another version, the barrier must be on the head. P.S. I've seen this method on yeslucid's channel

yes it does work and there is a way to use lag and a piston pushing the player to open command block in survival then you only have to use the gamemode command on always active to get creative
