cause to the motor throwing a rod was because 1 main cap bold was not torqued and had come loose
Yes there was oil on the lifers but not as much as there should have been
and no this was not the first motor to be built, was about no:436 have now done just shy of 550, and we always video the first starts in case this happens lol

The fact this wasn't spraying oil all over the shop with the valve covers off should have been an instant hint to shut down.

These guys must be members of the "Stop Oil" movement.

“I could watch those valves go up and down all day… Wait a minute!”

“What’s the oil pressure gauge say?” “Zero”? “rev her up.” 🤣🤣
  • @ryanclark2289
Bill, don’t add the oil. That shit makes a huge mess when we run the engine with the valve covers off.
  • Last rebuild I did was on an old BOP215. I was able to get to the oil pump through the distributor tube and work it with a power drill. Before even starting the engine I had oil working it's way up to the rockers. The fact that these guys had the engine running for a while without even seeing any oil at the top is pretty concerning 😂
  • 3 months ago i couldn’t tell you what a valve even was with a motor. tonight i saw this video and thought “hey that’s cool, never seen them operating in the open like that… wait where’s the oil” guys i’m learning!!!!!

Gotta love it when your engine spits out a part number so you know what to re-order lol

The quiet “fuck” 2 seconds after it blows really puts the icing on the cake.

Got to admit, it sounded pretty good while it lasted.

The way he snatched the screwdriver from the other guy like "I got it!!!"😂😂😂😂

Must've been a good build. It ran for an amazingly long time with no oil!
  • @timepperson752
This guy is a riot Not a drop of oil squirting from the push rods and rockers but keeps it running Here's your sign

Cletus; "That thingy you fixed is hanging out the side of the engine again Earl"

Greatest comment to say about blowing up a motor.....ran damn good up until it didn't no more
  • @Saltinator
GREAT JOB GUYS! Not seeing oil sling off the rockers was your first sign 🤦🏼‍♂️
  • @stoneyswolf
No oil getting to the rockers let's just keep reeving it it'll fix itself.

It had oil pressure. You can see the needle on the oil pressure gauge moving. It looks like the needle went to about the middle of the gauge, which is around 50 psi on most gauges. My 2007 5.3 with 170,000 miles still has about 45 psi at idle.

Young kid walked into my dads body shop one day and asked if we could look at his car that had broke down on the highway out front. Kid pops the hood and there’s a baseball size hole in his slant 6. First time I’d ever seen a rod go through a block.
