Another technique is to never use the clutch AT ALL once you've shifted into second. Not on upshifts or downshifts or even moving slowly through traffic. Or even coming to a halt. It does make progress a bit jerky but the money you save on wear and tear to the sole of your left shoe can go towards clutch plates and damage to your gearbox.

Cool video, brings back memories. I found that most later model trans had pretty decent double/triple cone syncros in 1st/2nd, and sometimes 3rd. The syncros would take quite a beating but nothing a quick rebuild wouldn't take care of. In motorcycles I would shift without the clutch all the time, but their transmissions are a lot different than a cars. Semis I would float gears all the time too, but I never got very good like some of the pros I see on YouTube lol.

One of the better videos showing fast shifting. Have watched many others that seem like they are asleep at the wheel. I used to chirp my 1996 Cobra SVT in 4th, not power shifting.

Oh man this makes me miss my '12 Mustang. Friggin loved going through the gears on that with my short shifter. Love it!

I was curious about 4 speed shifting for drag racing and so far this video has explained it the best.Most just show someone doing it. The replies below were mostly ignorant.

..you're supposed to LET GO OF THE ACCELERATOR when you switch gears. You are wasting revs for nothing.
