I have been feeling the nostalgia bug lately, and what is more iconically 90's than colorful Lisa Frank on literally every Trapper Keeper, lunchbox, backpack, and pencil at school?? It's ridiculous, it's amazing, and I am so excited to share my 1590's + LF mashup!

Still not over this, a week later. THE SWOOOOOSH.
  • @HeinousMoron
Damn, even if you had 100% styled this in the historical style, if you travelled back to the 1590s they would think you're the most important and richest person around with all those dyes. It turned out fantastic

Indecisive seamstress to another: After seam-ripping something, use the eraser at the end of a pen or even just a whole normal eraser. It will get the short bits of thread out of the fabric so you can just dust them off! You just erase over them, and the rubber texture grabs them out.

This dress makes me think of Abby Cox's comment on color in historical fashion: "If it isn't making your eyes bleed, is it even historically accurate?"
  • This was like the sewing equivalent of a Bob Ross tutorial. Morgan Donner: The Joy of Making. Utterly adorable. Such a fan of the leopard spots!

The thumbnail of this video made me think “this is the gayest dress Ive seen in my life” and seeing you make this dress made me think “this is officially the gayest dress Ive seen someone make ever!” which makes my big gay heart so happy. I still have yet to make a dress with layers of ruffles with every color of the rainbow and possibly a bow for my hair or the neckline. I love this dress so much!!
  • @imamonstr
Morgan: "I mostly wear black and white, so I want to add color." Also Morgan: "I'm going to make the most colorful dress inspired by neon rainbow perfection." And that happened in just one video. LoL

when you've unpacked, i'd LOVE to see this dress with as many petticoats shoved under it as you can find. MAXIMUM FLOOF
  • @HiyazXD345
"idk where i'd ever wear this" wear it grocery shopping omg?? the raw power of that much color and whimsy in a mundane situation is the whole point of stuff like this! (and i agree, the spots really bump it from a fun dress to a GREAT fun dress)
  • @rusted_ursa
"I have to make decisions, and I don't like it." Wow, subbed in 9 seconds. I think that might be a record.

I love projects like these with the take of "if history could, they would" and injecting loads of color and sparkle into historical clothing
  • @KHFFSE
"I don't know when I'm ever going to wear this to anything - " You mean WEAR EVERYWHERE FOR ANY REASON, omg. I'm obsessed with this. You did such a good job with it. I'd love to see the sewing community do more rainbow/Lisa Frank inspired period pieces. chef's kiss And super good job branching out of your comfort color scheme. Your a la reine dresses is one of my favorite things you've done and I'm glad you've been inspired to keep doing stuff for the fun of it, less about the historical accuracy.

Morgan, if you can't think of any event this dress would be appropriate for, then I think it's time to plan an event around the dress. I would LOVE to see all of your YouTube friends doing their own "rainbow animal print" costumes and everyone getting together while wearing them!
  • @Missmori
my grandmother came in because she wanted to see why i was laughing. and she absolutely ADORES this dress. expecially the Leopard spots. she thinks you are just so full of Joy and light. <3 and i agree.
  • “Perfectly” historically accurate is great. When you’re in the mood for that. Fun fantasy fashion is also great, because sometimes you just want to walk a little on the wild side and wear something a little bit crazy. I love it 😻 Edit: I vote that you should wear the dress anywhere and anytime you damn well please. Possibly except for a wedding.
  • @Chibihugs
Once again the wild rainbow Morgan has appeared and her newest colorful gown is an utter delight. My inner 90s kid is flailing at this gown idea. I was so pleased with the addition of the spots! They really make the look scream Lisa Frank in the happiest way. 🌈💖
  • When you walked out that door with the black dress and transitioning to the colorful, it looked like the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy entered into Oz the first time.
  • Re: pen markings: I use the “erasable” friction pens. When you iron over the markings, they disappear. Occasionally there’s a fabric where it’s still faintly visible (so test ahead of time), but overall they’ve been great!

23:17 - reminds me of my goth friend figuring out why she felt different to everybody else and trading out her wardrobe for Pride 💅💁‍♀️ (I knew before she did lmao love you to bits Bethany!!
