I love that emily used tape to get straight edges while daidus had rough edges with the colors spilling out, i feel like it really fits their personalities and styles, amazing paintings btw
  • @Jasperience
Painter here: Daidus, you can stroke it however you want.

Daidus casually explaining atmospheric perspective to Emily to help her understand the elements of her landscape painting that are further away start fade into lower contrast and saturation towards the background color as they receed is so wholesome and sweet. I just love seeing artists encourage each other. You'd never know by looking at their finished art pieces that this is their first time using a new medium. Makes me wanna try out poster paints.

Daidus's painting looks like the scenery at the start of the journey while Emily's looks the final destination of the journey. Hopeful and peaceful respectively...I LOVE BOTH OF THEM SO MUCH

I died when Emily actually spilled ink 😭

Daidus really keeps surprising me every time I watch a new spilled ink episode. That art school is really kicking in even if he doesn't know the art media. Another thing is PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEEEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEE PUT A DATE WHEN YOU FINISH 😭😭😭😭😭 And signature as well BUT AT LEAST THE DATE SO YOU CAN REMEMBER WHEN YOU DREW/PAINTED IT 😭
  • "We've never done backgrounds", starts with foreground. Ya don't say lol.

My routine lately has been, Work, eat, sleep— Oh wait new Spilled ink video, draw along and watch- sleep, repeat.

Daidus is so real for the fan thing, air conditioning is my bestie when I’m sleeping. My sister genuinely likes pure silence when she sleeps

emily's looks like it came from a photograph, daidus' looks like it came from a memory or a dream
  • @shay3878
It's so funny that Emily's parents were ok with Ashitaka severing a guy's arms with an arrow, but the bullet through the chest is where they draw the line hahaha

Daidus's art school experience really shines here! I especially enjoyed seeing Daidus giving painting tips to Emirichu.
  • @crowned67
It'll be hilarious watching them try to draw in the Clannad art style, looking like they're tearing up the whole time!
  • @wonkycorner
I really appreciate that Emirichu kept in her starting over on her painting cause she didn't like it. It feels transparent and extremely relatable.

For anyone curious, poster paint is basically just gouache (which is just opaque watercolour) you can reactivate it by wetting it, (which is why you use PVA to give it more of a acrylic quality). Oga also does a lot of mixing to create a variety of greys that makes the pure colours "pop" more. The poster paint paper is definitely important for painting wet-on-wet (it doesn't buckle). This was a great video and some really beautiful paintings :D

11:43 Daidus is so funny here I can't- XD He genuinely sounds like he's really proud of his blue

Daidus is really showing his art school chops in these videos! His understanding of volume and color is really impressive. I think that Emily's first attempt wasn't ending up the way she wanted to was because of that first giant hill of brown going off in the distance, and it made it harder to see the horizon lines. I think its worth it to try that same reference again with just a line through the middle of the canvas to make sure everything is in line! Her second attempt is REALLY good, I think partially because you were able to oreint yourself around that line! :D

He probably can't see it because of the Author's eye but DAAAAANGGGG Daidus painting is just GORGEOUS I really wanna go walk through those hills and feel the sun and the breeze EXCELENT JOB MAN!!! 💙
