FIRST DRIVE: Genesis has taken their popular G80 sedan and have brought full electrification to its platform. This EV sedan competes with the Tesla Model S, Lucid Air, and Mercedes Benz EQS. On the outside you will find full LED lighting, front charge port, and unique wheels. On the inside you will be greeted by a full leather interior, 14in infotainment screen and digital dash. The G80 Electrified is power by (2) electric motors. Is the 2023 Genesis G80 Electrified a BETTER luxury sedan than a Mercedes Benz EQS?

It’s a really nice sedan and the interior is miles ahead of any teslas and not many competitors in the full-size electric sedan. What you’re getting for 75k plus the awesome tech it feels like a bargain. Even though 75k is far from cheap but against the competition they cost a lot more

Just watched your review of the Tesla Plaid model and all I could think of during the video is how unjustified the $100K+ price tag felt for the vehicle, particularly, its interior. Nothing about it looks or feels premium, and if anything, seemed rather cheap considering the price tag. Minimalistic is fine, but you can still give quality whilst maintaining your minimalism. After seeing this video though, it lets me know that I’m not crazy. At a price that is just 3/4’s of the cost of a Plaid model, Genesis was able to give the buyer MUCH more bang for their buck (at least in terms of design). THIS, is what premium quality looks like. Great job Genesis!

All I know is Joe doesn't skip leg day! Love the car too.
  • What i really liked about this channel was that you reviewed not only top of the line models but also more affordable trims as well. I have not seen those lately but i really would love to watch more of those

As far as identifying the electric aspect from the rear, I would’ve changed the middle E in GENESIS to like a blue or white color with a slightly electrified font.

When you see these in person. They do look more elegant than a Mercedes. Almost Bentley vibes. Look at those side turn signals.

That interior with the granite marble look is AMAZINGLY gorgeous.
  • Thank you Joe for saying how you feel about the steering wheel! It has grown on me as well but nice to hear your thoughts about it as well!

The no sunroof is a HUGE zonk, the interior looks nice and spacious, but without a sunroof it can feel much tighter…when I’m driving, the driver, passenger AND sunroof windows are open in the summer time

I am absolutely obsessed with the Genesis Design language. Those lights and grill are just too clean, truly class leading imo

Genesis vehicles are soo underrated in my opinion. Great luxury vehicles
  • Hyundai, kia, genasis are definitely doing the business really good looking cars now. And quality getting good
  • I always enjoy the ride-alongs. More info like a wheelbase comparison to competitors, charge time from a standard outlet , ventilated seats would be great. At 75k I'd expect better thigh support in the back row and a full length sun roof. I heard Genesis and Hyundai still have the same sales floor and dealership and the sales people and customer lounges are shared as are the entrances. Hopefully that's changed or will change in the future to bring the customer experience up to par with the amount of money an owner is about to shell out. And that headliner coordination with the exterior color thing has gotta go and the back up lights in the bumper become useless if you have a bad enough rear-impact collision plus it adds to the price of the replacement.

I love how they made the electrified g80 look almost identical to the gas version. I think more luxury brands should do the same.
  • @Bmontepeque11
I really love how there's no clear indication from the exterior that this is an Electrified, it's just a G80 with a different engine option, as it should be :) Also, a car this nice and luxurious that's also electric? This is just the sort of car I want to be driving in the future! ❤️

Nice honest review. I love my GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, looks like they switched to the raised infotainment wheel and climate control panel from the GV70 for the G80 electrified, wise decision. No panoramic sunroof would be a deal breaker for me, but it's a beautiful sedan. Not a fan of the GV60, strayed too far from the Genesis "look" to me. The electrified GV70, which is basically identical to the ICE GV70, I think will be a huge seller. All in all Genesis is a serious player, keep up the great reviews.
  • Excellent review đź‘Ź I wish cars manufacturers can use your reviews to improve their products. It's Blessing from South Africa 🇿🇦 🙏
